Andy Robertson delivers a stern defence of the manager here in Cologne.

The left-back tells the assembled media that he feels "the gaffer was harsh on himself" as no-one in the team performed to the level they're capable of.

"We didn't show up properly," he says.

  2. 'We got punished' - Robertsonpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 18 June

Turns out it's just the skipper Andy Robertson:

"The other night wasn't easy. We came up against a really good team and we didn't show up the way we wanted to. That's always makes it difficult when you come up against the best int he world and we got punished.

"A lot of disappointed faces come Saturday morning but we gave the lads until night time to get over it and then we moved on.

"We want to show up the way we can and we didn't do that. We need to play to our strengths and we need to try and play a lot better in every area. We know we didn't do our best on Friday and hopefully that's different tomorrow night."

  3. Moments away...published at 18:30 British Summer Time 18 June

We've seen Steve Clarke and Andy Robertson getting out the taxi deep in the bowels of the stadium, so it's a matter of time folks.

Will Clarke be in ebullient form yet again?

  5. Yakin talks weather and Scottish threatspublished at 18:23 British Summer Time 18 June

Murat Yakin also comments on the wet weather that is affecting large parts of Germany today: "We are professional footballers and we play in any kind of weather, pitch conditions. We can still concentrate on our game, it doesn't depend on the weather.

"I also think if it's difficult to play on the pitch, the players will notice that when they are warming up and they will adapt."

He continues: "I hope none of the players are better than my players. I concentrate on my team and how we play. That always works best and I just hope that none of the Scotland players play better than mine.

"I don't want to pick one or two players. Manuel already spoke about which players carry the team."

  6. Akanji name checks some of the Scotspublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 18 June

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Scotland at the Koln Stadion

Plenty of respect from Akanji again when I ask him which of the Scots he's played against impressed him.

He talked about the "great seasons" both John McGinn and Scott McTominay had at Aston Villa and Manchester United respectively, and also talked about Andy Robertson's qualities and threats down the left for both Liverpool and Scotland.

He's also a fan of Kieran Tierney but admitted he hasn't played against him.

  7. Yakin praises Germany's performancepublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 18 June

Murat Yakin responds to Scotland's loss to Germany:

"The pressure was very high for Germany. They played very well, they were very concentrated.

"Not only did they score five goals, they played well with the ball and this was the key."

Manchester City's Manuel Akanji is asked for his thoughts on Scotland and their humbling in Munich.

He's very respectful in reply: "They lost the first game and didn't show their best performance. They want to show everyone they're a better team than that.

"They had a great qualification campaign. They're for sure coming for all three points tomorrow and we have to be ready for that. They know and we know they can play better than they did in the first game."

  9. What traps must the Swiss avoid?published at 18:06 British Summer Time 18 June

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Scotland at the Koln Stadion

Murat Yakin is asked what traps he and his side must avoid against Scotland.

He replies that he knows how good they can be and that they had great results in qualifying against Spain and Norway and he knows just how well they can play.

This will be the second meeting between Scotland and Switzerland at a major tournament.

The Scots won 1-0 in the group stages at Euro 1996, thanks to a goal from Ally McCoist.

That's Scotland's most recent win at a major finals and their only victory in their last five matches against the Swiss (D2 L2).

  12. What can we expect from Yakin and Akanji?published at 17:50 British Summer Time 18 June

    Kheredine Idessane
BBC Scotland at the Koln Stadion

What do we think manager and player will have to say about facing Scotland? Plenty of respect for their Scottish opponents? Expecting a big reaction after the disappointment of the opening-day thrashing by the hosts?

For the Swiss, of course, they're one win away from yet another knock-out phase. Remember, in their last five major competitions, the Swiss have progressed to the group phase.

Scotland can only dream of a record like that.

  13. Sleeping Scottish brothers go viralpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 18 June

Scotland fans have been making headlines, and the next to be namechecked were Greig and Darren Ross - who fell asleep by a bar in Munich after the Germany game.

They spoke to Rick Edwards on 5 Live this morning:

"We both live abroad, so we rendezvous for the Scotland trips," Greig said. "It was a bit of jet lag and not the right ratio of coffee to Kölsch."

Darren added: "We bring some showbiz and razzmatazz to the game, we always try our best to add a bit.

"We wanted to bring our boots in case, and wear them as tribute to the great forwards of our past that we could maybe do with today. Ally McCoist and James McFadden, they had some gold in their feet."

  14. Swiss running latepublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 18 June

    Kheredine Idessane
    BBC Scotland in Cologne

The Switzerland media conference should have started ten minutes ago but with un-Swiss-like precision, they're running a tad late.

Their train from Stuttgart was behind schedule so there's a delay to the arrival of manager Murat Yakin and their star centre-half, Manuel Akanji of Manchester City.

They should be here in the next few minutes, however. Just chat among yourselves in the meantime.

  15. Would McCann grant Hanley a start?published at 17:39 British Summer Time 18 June

    Neil McCann graphic

Jake: Neil, what's your thoughts on Grant Hanley? Is he up to international standards or could we see him struggle like Ryan Porteous on Friday if he starts?

Neil McCann: I would've started Grant Hanley. He’s maybe not got enough minutes under his belt which is why he didn’t start, but I would start him.

  16. Stick or twist with Angus Gunn?published at 17:33 British Summer Time 18 June

    Neil McCann

While we wait to hear from the two camps ahead of tomorrow, let's fire some questions from you Scotland fans at Neil McCann.

Anon: Do you think we should change keepers? I'm not saying the loss was Angus Gunn's fault but letting five goals in isn't good for confidence.

Neil: It’s not good for the confidence, but I would probably put a big portion of blame on Gunn for the first, third and fifth goal.

That being said, there weren’t many pass marks in the team, so it would be unfair [to change him]. We’re already going to change one of the back-five, I think there’s an argument there we may change the right side too, so I would keep the goalkeeper.

  17. Some grim stats for Scotland fans...published at 17:29 British Summer Time 18 June

We're provided with stats by Opta before every game, and let's just say the stats ahead of tomorrow don't make for good reading...

    • The sides last met in March 2006, the Swiss winning a friendly 3-1 at Hampden.
    • Scotland’s 5-1 defeat to Germany on Friday was their second-heaviest ever at a major tournament, after their 7-0 loss to Uruguay at the 1954 World Cup.
    • Switzerland have only lost two of their last 14 tournament group games, winning seven and drawing five.
    • Scotland have won six of their 33 major tournaments games, a win rate of 18%. Among European nations with 25+ matches played at such tournaments, only Bulgaria (13% - 4/32) have a poorer win ratio.

    Media room

The Swiss media conference was due to get under way at 17:30 BST... but it's delayed slightly.

Swiss manager Murat Yakin and Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji will face questions from the media when it finally gets under way.

  19. What's coming up?published at 17:20 British Summer Time 18 June

Right, that's enough weather chat - let's find out about these media conferences.

We'll be hearing from the Switzerland and Scotland camps, and we believe skipper Andy Robertson is due to appear in the latter.

That's not too unusual, to be fair. It is 'matchday minus one' after all.

  20. What's the weather saying to it?published at 17:13 British Summer Time 18 June

For those heading to Cologne for Scotland's second Euro 2024 match, Joy Dunlop has a special weather forecast.

Expect heavy rain, hail and wind. Everything you are used to.
