AFC Wimbledon and Ramsgate have never previously faced in the FA Cup proper, with this only Ramsgate’s fourth ever game in the competition (first round onwards).
This is AFC Wimbledon’s fifth tie out of their last seven in the FA Cup that has come against non-league opponents, progressing from two and being eliminated in two of those previous four.
Ramsgate are competing in the FA Cup second round for the first time in their history, having beaten Woking in the first round this season. Their only other FA Cup match against a side from the Football League was against Watford in November 1955, losing 5-3 away from home.
AFC Wimbledon have won four of their last five home matches in the FA Cup (L1), although the one defeat in that time was against non-league Chesterfield in November 2022.
