Alex Hartridge's header helped League One strugglers Burton beat promotion hopefuls AFC Wimbledon 1-0 at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
The Dons had their first attempt on goal in the 27th minute when Marcus Browne fired over the crossbar from the edge of the box.
They continued to grow into the game as the half progressed, and in the 32nd minute, won a penalty after a poorly timed challenge from Hartridge on Omar Bugiel.
The Dons striker stepped up to take it, but his limp effort was saved by Burton goalkeeper Brad Collins.
The rebound fell to Myles Hippolyte, but he blasted the ball against a post and the visitors cleared it away to safety.
Burton made Johnnie Jackson's side pay in the 50th minute when Charlie Webster's sublime free-kick delivery was headed into the top-right corner by Hartridge.
Aaron Sasu produced an excellent delivery across the face of the Burton goal in the 65th minute, but nobody got on the end of it.
Webster almost made it 2-0 in the 74th minute with a low and powerful shot that forced an excellent save from Nathan Bishop.
The hosts pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages.
However they could not carve out any clear-cut chances as they fell to defeat.
