They have won only one of their past four Premier League matches, which helped Liverpool clinch the title on Sunday with four games to spare.

But in Europe they won six of their eight league-phase games and also beat PSV Eindhoven 9-3 on aggregate in the last 16 on their way to the semi-finals.

"The fact that we are here as one of the four best teams in Europe, it tells about the mindset, spirit and how much we really want it," Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said.

Mikel names the same midfield that he picked for the win over Ipswich.

That game was the first after the win in Madrid and the first change the Arsenal manager had to trial a midfield without Thomas Partey who is suspended for this game.

It means that Mikel Merino, who has been doing an excellent job as a makeshirt centre forward, has to drop back into his natural midfield role.

Arteta also names the same back four from the victory over Madrid.

Eric Dier is in advanced talks to join Monaco ahead of next season.

The former England international is currently at Bayern Munich where his contract expires at the end of the season.

But the ex-Tottenham star is set for a move to France with Monaco with discussions believed to be at an advanced stage.

BBC Sport understands talks are aimed at agreeing an initial three-year deal with the option of an extra 12 months.

The 31-year-old has made 25 appearances this season for Bayern, who are set to be crowned Bundesliga champions.

For Arsenal, it's really important that they stay solid, of course they're going to go and press high at times, but if they stay solid then they'll be really hard to beat.

Paris St-Germain are many people's favourites for the Champions League having overwhelmed Manchester City in the league format then knocked Liverpool out in the last 16 before disposing of Aston Villa.

Luis Enrique's side have been thrilling in attack, but Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta will take real hope from the manner in which PSG wobbled in the second half at Aston Villa, when Villa came from 2-0 down on the night to win 3-2, only to go out 5-4 on aggregate.

Suddenly PSG looked vulnerable and Arsenal, who beat them 2-0 here in first stage of the tournament, will want to follow Villa's lead.

Arsenal have posted a video on their social media channels of manager Mikel Arteta calling for fans to give everything ahead of their Champions League semi-final with PSG.

It's a similair message to the one he gave in his pre-match press conference but the way he is looking down the camera gives the feeling that some of the Arsenal squad must have when he is speaking to them.

The Opta supercomputer has made Arsenal favourites to win the Champions League.

The Gunners have been given a 56% chance of making it through their semi-final against Paris St-Germain and 32% of winning a potential final against Barcelona or Inter Milan.

The model estimates the probability of each match outcome by using betting market odds and the Opta Power Rankings, external, external.

It previously made Arsenal slight favourites to reach the semi-finals,, external over Real Madrid - which was not universally agreed with by fans on the BBC Sport Arsenal page.

As a coach, Luis Enrique has copied the philosophy of his former team-mate Pep Guardiola from the beginning.

He hasn't brought anything truly new to the table, but, using the tonnes of energy he has, he has become one of the top representatives of a broader cultural shift.

His relentless edge is now driving everything at Paris St-Germain, although initially he didn't even want the job.

He thought the club only cared about names. Players such as Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. Uncoachable, he assumed.

But when he heard the philosophy had changed - that they now wanted to build a team - he reconsidered.

And, soon after he arrived, Neymar and Marco Verratti were gone. Messi, who might have stayed had he known Luis Enrique was coming, had already committed to Inter Miami.

He understands and appreciates the importance of individual stars, but only up to a point.

Paris St-Germain looked far from serious Champions League contenders when they lost to Arsenal in the league phase.

The Ligue 1 side only won once and lost three of their first five games in Europe before squeezing through to the knockout-phase play-offs in 15th place.

But Luis Enrique believes his side are "a more complete team" seven months on.

"I think there are some big differences [from the Arsenal defeat]," the PSG boss said. "I watched that match again and saw our progress. I think we're a better team and we've shown that throughout the competition.

"We had the toughest league phase. At first I thought it was detrimental, but in the end it was positive because it helped us progress.

"We are a more complete team and we now want to write a page in history."

Ben White's return to fitness comes as a timely defensive boost for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal.

The versatile defender's season has been heavily disrupted by injuries, and he was rated as doubtful for the Paris St-Germain game by the Gunners manager after missing last week's draw with Crystal Palace.

As with Mikel Merino, Arteta was non-committal on Monday about whether White would be fit enough to start at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

But despite his return to training, you would imagine there is likely to be a temptation for Arteta to stick with the four-man defence of Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Jakub Kiwior and Myles Lewis-Skelly that restricted Real Madrid so stoutly in their quarter-final.

The Arsenal fans will no doubt create a fantastic atmosphere but the PSG supporters are also determined to make plenty of noise and were marching down to the Emirates in big numbers earlier.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has challenged the Gunners faithful to create an even better atmosphere at Emirates than in the 3-0 win against Real Madrid.

"I'm not exaggerating," he said. "Guys, bring your boots, your shorts and T-shirt and let's play every ball together.

"You want to do something special? That place has to be something special. Something we haven't seen."

Key midfielder Thomas Partey's one-game ban provides Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta with the latest selection headache in a season riddled with similar issues.

The notion of heading into tonight's game without the Ghanaian, who picked up a late booking against Real Madrid with the tie as good as over, rankled with Arteta, according to well-placed sources.

It is a clear dilemma to navigate, particularly given Arteta is already without both recognised centre-forwards in Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, and first-choice centre-back Gabriel.

The return to training of Mikel Merino, who missed the draw with Crystal Palace with injury, eases the predicament to a certain extent.

So the question is: does Merino return to his natural habitat in central midfield or continue as a makeshift striker in Partey, Havertz and Jesus' absence?

Without Partey, there appears clear reasoning towards reverting Merino to midfield alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, especially with Jorginho unavailable because of a rib injury.

Moving Merino further back could be key towards placating the threat posed by PSG's expected midfield triumvirate of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves, certainly without the physical presence of Partey.

It is a switch Arteta is understood to have looked at in training in the build-up.
