Kwame Poku's goal was his sixth of the season for Peterborough

Kwame Poku netted a stoppage-time winner as Peterborough got themselves back on track in League One with a narrow victory at home to Stevenage.

It was the Posh’s first win in four games, but it was harsh on their opponents, who looked set for a deserved share of the spoils thanks to Louis Thompson’s second-half equaliser.

Peterborough were ahead after only five minutes when Donay O’Brien-Brady found the bottom corner from just outside the box for his first senior goal.

Stevenage grew back into the game and after Posh goalkeeper Jed Steer had denied Jamie Reid, Jordan Roberts produced an air shot from four yards out after Carl Piergianni had headed across Eli King’s corner.

But the Boro were level in the 64th minute when Harvey White played for the ball through for Thompson, who buried his effort into the top corner.

The visitors looked the more likely victors, but Peterborough snatched victory right at the death as Poku shot through a crowd of bodies after Jack Sparkes’ corner was not cleared to steal the win, four minutes into injury time.
