GOAL - Hamburg 0-2 St Paulipublished at 20:49 British Summer Time

    Andréas Hountondji (60 mins)

That's two goals in two games now for St Pauli's new centre-forward on loan from Burnley.

The Beninese international does brilliantly to round the goalkeeper before slotting the ball into the back of the net from a tight angle.

Hamburg's big return home in the Bundesliga is starting to become a forgetful one.

  2. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 48 mins

    Hamburg 0-1 St Pauli

It's heartbreak for Hamburg who thought they'd scored their first Bundesliga goal in seven years.

Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer gets on the end of a long ball over the top of the St Pauli defence and slots home brilliantly past Nikola Vasilj at the near post.

However, VAR intervenes to rule the Hamburg striker started in an offside position as the ball was played and the goal is chalked off.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Hamburg 0-1 St Pauli

We're back underway at the Volksparkstadion for the second half!

  4. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:20 British Summer Time

    Hamburg 0-1 St Pauli

That's the end of the first 45 minutes and it's been all St Pauli.

The visitors open the scoring in the 19th minute through centre back Adam Dźwigała's first Bundesliga goal, finishing off a beautifully worked short corner routine.

Things could and should have gotten even worse for Hamburg, but Mathias Pereira Lage is unable to put away a golden opportunity before the end of the half.

St Pauli are in control and Hamburg have it all to do if they are to get back on level terms in the second half.

  5. CLOSE!published at 41 mins

    Hamburg 0-1 St Pauli

It's a huge chance for St Pauli to double their lead and they haven't taken it.

Mathias Pereira Lage gets on the end of a cross in the box and with two thirds of the goal gaping, he just has to guide the ball into the far corner but puts it wide of the post.

A massive let off for Hamburg.

  6. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Hamburg 0-1 St Pauli

The home side appear to be regaining their composure after that St. Pauli opener but they don't have much to show for it.

Hamburg have had more of the ball with 55% possession but with no shots on target and only four touches within the opposition's box, it's been relatively comfortable for the visitors.

Hamburg’s goalkeeper Daniel Heuer Fernandes was outstanding on the opening weekend, making four saves in a clean sheet against Gladbach which earned him a place in the Bundesliga Team of the Week.

At the other end, St. Pauli’s Nikola Vasilj also impressed, pulling off four saves against Dortmund – including a penalty stop – and continuing his remarkable record of saving five out of six Bundesliga penalties, cementing his reputation as a true “penalty killer.”

The Hamburg derby kicks off Matchweek 2, marking the 112th meeting between the two sides and their first Bundesliga clash since 2010/11, when St. Pauli won 1-0.

Last season in Bundesliga 2, Hamburg came out on top in the head-to-head fixtures, but it was St. Pauli who were crowned champions and earned promotion, leaving Hamburg to wait another year to face their rivals again.

On Hamburger SV’s return to the Bundesliga, they travelled to Borussia Mönchengladbach where they earned a hard-fought point in a goalless draw. Hamburg didn’t register a shot for over an hour during the match, but substitutes Yussef Poulsen and Jean Luc-Dompe brought some energy into the game, and they nearly stole a winner late on in the match.

St. Pauli also earned themselves a point on match week one, as they hosted German giants Borussia Dortmund. The Hamburg side were 3-1 down in the 74th minute, but a penalty in the 86th minute by Daniel Sinani followed by a beautifully struck shot from outside the box by Eric Smith in the 89th minute saw them earn a well-deserved point against tough opposition.
