    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Larne get their first effort towards goal.

Lee Bonis with a free-kick effort from all of 40 yards but it is well over the Ballkani crossbar.

  2. Postpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Bernard Karrica again gets into the danger zone and finds himself with a free header, but he can only head into the ground and wide.

The referee's assistant flags for offside so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

  3. Postpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Larne playing a good offside line at present. Ballkani looking threatening on both flanks but are missing that final ball.

  4. Postpublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Larne seem to have ridden a bit of a storm earlier in the half and appear a little more composed on the ball, albeit happy to clear their lines.

With Ballkani's opening domestic game next week, there can be no excuse in relation to playing a game halfway through their season, so hopefully Larne can match them over the entire 90 minutes tonight.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:36 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Rohan Ferguson keeps the game scoreless ...somehow.

Bernard Karrica thrusts onto a loose ball and into the left-hand side of the Larne penalty area before unloading a low drive, but Ferguson gets a foot to the ball and deflects it wide, superb reflexes from the Scot.

  6. Postpublished at 19:33 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

The side from Kosovo beginning to pile on the pressure with multiple free-kicks from the edge of the area.

Larne need to get their foot on the ball now and try to claim some much-needed possession.

  7. Postpublished at 19:30 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

Walid Hamidi looking threatening down the right, beating a couple of Reds defenders before pulling the ball back into the six-yard area but no-one is there to finish it off. The first real warning shot.

  8. Postpublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 8 August 2024

    Ballkani 0-0 Larne

The hosts enjoying a high percentage of possession so far but with little cutting edge as yet.

The Kosovo side have lost a couple of their key midfielders from last year's matchup with Larne to bigger clubs in the region and that may encourage Tiernan Lynch's side

Gentrit Halili leaves the field after picking up a knock and is replaced by Geralb Smajli

    Ballkani v Larne (19:00 BST)

The hosts name an unchanged 11 from the side that defeated Maltese outfit Hamrun last week in the previous round of qualification. Walid Hamidi and Bernard Karrica scored the goals in their 2-0 victory and will be keen to add to their tally this evening.

Tiernan Lynch makes just the two changes from the side that were defeated 4-0 by RFS three-weeks ago in Champions League qualification, and they both come in attack. Matty Lusty and Conor McKendry drop to the bench with Lee Bonis and Dylan Sloan coming into the starting lineup. It is very much a tried and tested 11 for the Invermen this evening.

FC Ballkani: Kolici, Halili, Jashanica (C), Thaqi; Queven, Hamidi, Emerllahu, Ismajlgeci, Potoku: Karrica, Kryeziu

    Ballkani v Larne (19:00 BST)

Larne's bid for Uefa Conference League qualification begins tonight as they face FC Ballkani in a third qualifying round first leg in Kosovo.

The Irish Premiership champions received a bye to the third round after their first-round exit from Champions League qualifying last month, where they fell to a disappointing 7-0 aggregate defeat by RFS.

Tiernan Lynch's side will be eager to bounce back from a poor showing against the Latvian champions and exact revenge on the Kosovo outfit after last year's 7-1 aggregate defeat in the Conference League second qualifying round.

The first leg is being played at the home of the Kosovo Superleague champions, Stadiumi Fadil Vokrri in Pristina before the second leg at Inver Park on 15 August.

We will have live text commentary of all the action as it unfolds through the evening so stay with us, you won't miss a thing!
