Lyon and Olympiakos have faced each other on six previous occasions in European competition. After only winning one of the first three (L2), the French side have won each of the last three in a row.
Olympiakos have only won one of their previous five away games against French sides in the UEFA Cup/Europa League (D1 L3), with that lone victory coming at Sochaux in February 2005 (1-0). Their most recent trip ended in a 1-2 defeat at Nantes in September 2022.
Lyon only lost one of their 10 matches in their last UEFA Europa League campaign in 2021-22 (W6 D3), losing 0-3 in the quarter-final second leg at home to West Ham (1-4 on aggregate).
No side won more games in major European competition last season than Olympiakos (9 – level with Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen), with the Greek side beating Fiorentina 1-0 in the Conference League final.
Alexandre Lacazette is Lyon’s top scorer in the UEFA Europa League (since 2009-10), netting nine goals for the French side. His last game for the club in the competition came in May 2017 against Ajax; a game in which he netted a brace in a 3-1 victory.
