The last three English teams to host Marseille for a major European match have all won – Arsenal in 2013 (2-0), Man City in 2020 (3-0) and Spurs in 2022 (2-0), all in the UEFA Champions League.
Marseille have won just one of their 14 away major European games in England (D4 L9), a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in October 2007 with Mathieu Valbuena scoring the winning goal.
After shipping five goals in their first two UEFA Europa League matches this season, Brighton and Hove Albion have won their last three without conceding a goal, despite their opponents accumulating an expected goals total of 2.5 in those games.
Marseille have scored 14 goals in their five UEFA Europa League matches this season – it’s their joint-most goals scored in a single group stage of a major European competition, along with the 1992-93 UEFA Champions League (that they went on to win).
Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored 29 goals in 53 UEFA Europa League appearances – since 2009-10, only Radamel Falcao (30 in 31 games) has more goals in the competition. All five of his goals in this season’s competition have come against Ajax.
