While the game itself may not have been the thriller we might have hoped for, the result will have fans over in West Yorkshire buzzing.

The Terriers go again on Saturday as they take another venture away from home, this time to relegation-threatened Shrewsbury Town for a 15:00 kick-off.

While an FA Cup meeting with Portsmouth awaits Wycombe on Friday evening, with their next shot at the top coming on 18 January at Field Mill.

We will be around to take you through it all with coverage of League One kicking off with Rotherham v Bolton Wanderers on Saturday at 12:30 GMT.

Huddersfield Town manager Michael Duff told BBC Radio Leeds:

"I think at 0-0 we were in control and the better team, but at times it was a scrappy game.

"After we went 1-0 up it was disappointing that we came out for the second half and didn't pass properly. We seemed invite the pressure upon ourselves, but we still looked resolute.

"Our keeper has made some great saves, but considering the poor luck we've had in the last few weeks we more than deserved that.

"To deliver this performance and get that result is brilliant."

The Terriers' next match will be against basement dwellers Shrewsbury Town in a trip that they will surely be looking to extend their unbeaten run.

They do face leaders Birmingham City at the end of the month, but at this moment in time that will be a game they surely relish and another opportunity to test their promotion credentials.

The era of the unbeaten Wycombe Wanderers seems to be truly over as they concede defeat for the second time in their past four league matches.

Though they do have some promising matches to get back their mojo, with three of their next five opponents currently residing in the bottom seven.

They will, however, have to welcome a surging Barnsley side in the midst of all those less daunting fixtures.

Not pretty but the grit of the team got us the three points. This is such a poor league this season and second place is there for us. We’ve rarely got out of first gear this season and we’re in this position!

Huddersfield Town gain a huge three points away from home to move just four points shy of Wrexham and Wycombe.

The Chairboys will be left rueing a missed opportunity as they lose out on the chance to regain top spot from league leaders Birmingham City.

It's a clean sheet against a team which have scored 50 goals, and that shows we can defend.

Supporters will see Huddersfield are a team which could get into the automatic promotions spots, and they can only get stronger if they strengthen in this transfer window.

Maybe...the fans can start to believe.

Missed late chances from Josh Scowen and Tyreeq Bakinson see Wycombe miss the chance to go top while Huddersfield close the gap to four points.

Scowen saw his header from a corner drift inches above the bar while Bakinson couldn't get enough control on his volley to keep it down as it crashed into the crossbar.

Huddersfield though held firm as their defence and the first-half goal from Herbie Kane sees them head home with a big win under their belt and a 15th game unbeaten.

Four minutes left to play and it's starting to heat up from a Wycombe perspective.

It looked like a hard chance to finish for Tyreeq Bakinson because he didn't seem to get enough power in his legs for the shot.

Wycombe wil be kicking themselves to have not taken advantage of these chances.

So close, yet again!

Tyreeq Bakinson volleys the ball in the centre of the box but it ricochets off the bar to the relief of a scrambling Terriers keeper Jacob Chapman.

Wycombe have themselves a corner and an unmarked Josh Scowen is the quickest to rise.

He heads it inches above the bar to end up with his hands on his head.

He's gutted he's missed that.

Time is slipping away for Wycombe and attacks from Huddersfield won't help.

Antony Evans cuts the ball into the Wycombe box but it rolls past both his man and the chequered defenders.

Huddersfield substitute Jonathan Hogg hasn't been on the pitch very long but he's already picked up a yellow card for a foul in the middle of the pitch.

Wycombe midfielder Daniel Harvie goes for it just outside goal but can only see it fly over the bar.

The home side are turning up the attacks but they aren't proving fruitful.
