Wycombe had less than 27% possession at the Swansea.com Stadium

League One Wycombe Wanderers produced an EFL Cup upset as they dumped Championship side Swansea City out thanks to Richard Kone’s winner.

Kone put Wycombe in front on 40 minutes after exchanging passes with Matt Butcher as he fired into the roof of the net with Swansea’s defence split wide open.

The Chairboys were good value for their upset victory as determined defending restricted the Welsh club to few chances despite dominating possession.

Swansea failed to register a single effort on target as Florian Bianchini headed wide and Joe Allen and Jay Fulton saw efforts scrambled clear.

The hosts can have few complaints at losing to a side currently in the bottom half of League One.

Swansea made eight changes from Sunday’s 1-1 draw with rivals Cardiff and a lack of cohesion was evident throughout.

The hosts looked toothless in attack while Wycombe had already threatened through Kieran Sadlier and Josh Scowen before Kone’s assured finish put the visitors deservedly ahead five minutes before the break.

Swansea boss Luke Williams attempted to ignite his side with a triple substitution just before the hour mark but despite having close to 75% possession, the hosts did not manage an effort on target.
