The damage was done in the first leg for Bristol City but the 22-point gulf between the sides in the league table was apparent over two legs.

Kieffer Moore, Gus Hamer and Callum O'Hare scored the goals after City had made a bright start to the game, but crucially without a goal to show for it as they tried to create a night of history.

Sunderland and Coventry will face-off tomorrow night for the right to face Sheffield United, but whoever wins, they look like they might have their work cut out.

City have been put to the sword by Sheffield United, who can look forward to the arch of Wembley.

We can see Steve Lansdown in the directors' box. I'm not sure he would have travelled here expecting the team to go through, but he'd have hoped it wouldn't finish like this.

The City fans are still there, behind the goal, singing their hearts out.

Their 45-year wait for top-flight football goes on, but it's not for the lack of support.
