Goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and centre-back Daniel Ballard have been ruled out of Northern Ireland's Nations League games against Belarus and Bulgaria.

Birmingham City keeper Peacock-Farrell has a shoulder problem with Sunderland's Ballard unavailable because of an ankle ailment.

Both players have returned to their clubs for treatment from Northern Ireland's base this week of Stockport County's training ground at Carrington in Greater Manchester.

Manager Michael O'Neill has opted not to call up any replacements at this stage.

Another couple of Northern Ireland players are understood to be carrying knocks but are expected to be available for both games.

Northern Ireland will train at Carrington until Thursday when they travel to Hungary for Saturday's game against Belarus at the neutral venue of Zalaegerszeg.

O'Neill's side will then face Bulgaria at Windsor Park three days later.

Como's Marco Curto has been given a 10-match ban by Fifa, with five them of them suspended, for racially abusing Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan in a pre-season friendly.

The incident happened in the the second half of the game in Marbella in July - with Hwang's team-mate Daniel Podence sent off for a punch in the aftermath.

Wolves complained to the Italian Football Association and to Uefa, which said it was powerless to act because it was not a Uefa match.

But the Korean Football Association got involved, with Hwang a South Korea international, and reported the incident to Fifa.

"The player Marco Curto was found responsible for discriminatory behaviour and sanctioned with a 10-match suspension," a Fifa spokesperson said.

"Serving of half of those matches is suspended for a probation period of two years, and the player is ordered to render community services and undergo training and education with an organisation approved by Fifa."

Italian defender Curto, 25, joined Serie B side Cesena on a season-long loan the week after the Wolves match.

  7. Bellamy 'quietly confident' of Ramsey's coaching futurepublished at 07:28 British Summer Time

Aaron Ramsey has been tipped to become a manager "at a high level" in the future by Wales boss Craig Bellamy, but says speculation linking the player with the vacant Cardiff City post is premature.

Last month the Cardiff midfielder was ruled out for at least two months with a hamstring injury sustained after coming on as a substitute during Wales’ 2-1 Nations League win in Montenegro.

The 33-year-old, capped 86 times, will now miss Wales' Nations League games away to Iceland on Friday and home to Montenegro next Monday.

"I definitely see that part of him [management]... I believe it's starting to circle, because it does later on in your career," Bellamy said.

"I'm quietly confident he will, I'm quietly confident he will see that part of the game for him.

"With his experiences and his knowledge, his understanding of the game, I'd be surprised if it wasn't at a high level."

Manchester United head into the international break in the bottom half of the table - five points above the relegation zone and 10 from top spot.

Eight points represents United's lowest tally after seven games of a Premier League season, and they are already six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.

The club's board will hold their regular meeting on Tuesday, with manager Erik ten Hag's future and their position in the table likely to be on the agenda.

One thing is for sure - even at this admittedly early stage, they are giving themselves an uphill battle to secure Champions League football for next season.

  10. Man City v Premier League legal case verdict - what it all meanspublished at 07:05 British Summer Time

The verdict has been announced in Manchester City's legal case against the Premier League over the league's rules on commercial deals involving clubs' owners.

City, who are owned by the Abu Dhabi-backed City Football Group, had some complaints upheld, with two aspects of the associated party transaction (APT) rules deemed unlawful by a tribunal.

But the Premier League says the tribunal rejected the majority of Manchester City's challenges and "endorsed the overall objectives, framework and decision-making of the APT system".

APTs are aimed at the value of sponsorship deals with companies linked to clubs' owners.

This case is not directly related to the Premier League disciplinary commission which will hear 115 charges against City for allegedly breaching its financial regulations, some of which date back to 2009.

The tribunal - in a 175-page document - ruled that shareholder loans should not be excluded from the scope of APT rules and that some amendments made in February by the Premier League should not be retained.

In this arbitration process, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton all acted as witnesses for City.
