As a Chelsea fan the teams I want to avoid are Real Madrid and Man Utd.

  7. How do you qualify for the knockouts?published at 11:04 BST

It is a league - so position is what matters and where you finish dictates what comes next.

Ending the league phase in the top four brings a big advantage: you qualify automatically for the quarter-finals, and have the second leg of your tie at home.

If you finish between 13th and 18th, you are eliminated.

For those who finish from 5th to 12th, a knockout play-off awaits. There are two pairs of ties:

    • 11th or 12th v 5th or 6th
    • 9th or 10th v 7th or 8th

The four winners of those matches then join the quarter-finals, and from there onwards it is near enough the same as every other knockout competition.

As with all these draws, they love a cinematic and a bit of drama.

We've just had a lovely rendition of the Women's Champions League anthem by some violinists in Nyom.

  9. How does the draw work?published at 11:02 BST

The 18 teams will be split into three pots based on their club coefficient ranking, with holders Arsenal the top seeds in pot one.

To ensure a balanced level of opposition for all and a balanced schedule, each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each of these pots, playing one match against a team from each pot at home and one away.

Not too hard to get your head around, right?

  10. New season, new formatpublished at 11:00 BST

The Women's Champions League is following the men's lead this year and moving from a group format to the new league phase.

But, there are half the number of teams, 18 rather than 36, which means there is no last-16 and teams play six matches rather than eight.
