Harvey Elliott's goals have helped propel the Young Lions into this final. The Liverpool player has scored four times in five starts.

But while Elliott has been on international duty in Slovakia, his club has been busy signing Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez. The Reds also snapped up right-sided player Jeremie Frimpong last month.

Will Elliott get much game-time next season - or is it time Liverpool cashed in on the 22-year-old, who has two years to run on his contract?

Several members of this squad could be on the move when they return to England.

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah, 22, looks like he is off to Bayer Leverkusen, while James McAtee, who opted to captain the Young Lions rather than play for Manchester City at the Club World Cup, has been linked with moves to Everton and Leeds.

Meanwhile, there is talk of goalkeeper James Beadle - who has played every minute of this tournament - joining Birmingham City on loan from Brighton.

And what about Harvey Elliott - will he be leaving Liverpool this summer?

Alex Scott fell out of love with the game before getting his appetite back playing for non-league Guernsey in the Isthmian League Division One South East - the eighth tier of English football - against the likes of Whitstable Town, Hastings United and Burgess Hill Town.

Meanwhile, Elliot Anderson and Jarell Quansah have 111 Premier League appearances between them since turning out for Bristol Rovers in League Two and League One three years and two years ago respectively.

And Jay Stansfield was at Exeter City as recently as 2023 and wore the number nine shirt the club retired in the wake of his father's death.

Adam Stansfield, who played for Exeter between 2006-2010, died of bowel cancer at the age of 31 in 2010.

Hello and a very warm welcome to live text coverage of England against Germany in the European Under-21 Championship final.

Lee Carsley's Class of 2023 defeated Spain in the final two years ago in Georgia - and England will become the first nation since Spain (2011 & 2013) to successfully defend the title if they overcome Germany.

The final is coming from Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, where it's hot and sticky.

While the Three Lions still haven't won anything significant since 1966, the Young Lions are one win away from bringing home another trophy.

Never mind Sir Gareth Southgate.

How about Sir Lee Carsley if his side defeat Germany and successfully defend the European Under-21 Championship crown they won two years ago?
