An absolutely deserved lead, St Mirren have been knocking at the door.

Adam Forrester has a back-pass picked off by Toyosi Olusanya but the forward's touch takes him wide. He tries to square for Mikael Mandron, but Jamie McCart makes a crucial blocks at the near post.

The visitors are on the ropes here.

From the corner, St Mirren work another move and pick out Toyosi Olusasnya. His touch lifts the ball into the sky and he fluffs the volley.

The flag then goes up to spare the striker's blushes but again, he should have scored. The replay shows it was pretty tight, as well.

St Mirren have a free-kick 30 yards out, and instead of shooting, Caolan Boyd-Munce picks out Marcus Fraser at the back post.

Instead of hitting it, he takes a touch and allows Beni Baningime to get back and clear for a corner. He had to shoot!

The pitch here in Paisley does not look to be in a condition where passing the ball on the ground will bring much success.

Even with the shortest of passes, the ball appears to have a mind of its own.

[Kabangu] just couldn't get the ball to settle, it's excellent from Cammy Devlin beforehand.

It's an excellent hit and a great save from Zach Hemming too.

Elton Kabangu drives forward with the ball bobbling at his feet. He tries to drill it from 25 yards but Zach Hemming pushes it round the post.

The striker certainly caught that.

A Hearts cross from the left is met by Elton Kabangu. He nods back across, looking for Lawrence Shankland, but it's Alex Gogic who nods at goal instead.

Zach Hemming grabs it out the sky. A close one.

It's a huge chance.

He'll be disappointed he hasn't found the net. St Mirren should be ahead.

St Mirren have let Hearts know their plan early on - launch it long for Toyosi Olusanya.

This time it works thanks to some dreadful Hearts defending but Olusanya, one-on-one, lifts his chip over the bar. Huge chance.

Early half-chances for both as Toyosi Olusanya chases a ball over the top, but Craig Gordon is out quickly to clear.

Hearts then come forward and a cross from the left is poorly dealt with initially, but it won't drop for Lawrence Shankland.

Don Robertson is the man in the middle and he peeps his whistle to get us under way. Andrew Dallas is the VAR, although hopefully we don't have to mention him too much.

St Mirren are in their traditional black and white stripes, Hearts are in all maroon.

Hearts head coach Neil Critchley tells BBC Scotland: "Just selection [reasons for bring in], Alan’s [Forrest] been training well and hasn't been in the team for a while so he deserves a chance to start.

"Hopefully, he can bring us some energy down that side of the pitch.

"Every time you come to St Mirren you know you’re in for a difficult game, you just need to look at their recent results, ignoring their St Johnstone results last week, we know they carry threats. It’s up to us to try and impose our game onto them.

"We need to be at our best tonight.

"It’s massive, we want to be successful and go as far as we can in the cup competitions, we want to be in the hat come the end of the game tonight."

St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "We've made positive changes. Ryan [Alebiosu] is like a winger, real pace and energy in getting to the byeline which we haven't got. Elvis [Bwomono ]is a different type of player.

"Declan [John] is a bit more creative, gives us that pace and quality on the side of the pitch."

[On keeper Zach Hemming] "He's broke his nose. He had to have a scan on his skull, we thought he might have fractured it at one stage. He's mad anyway, so I can't say it knocked any sense into him.

"They're on a good run, they've got a good manager in Neil [Critchley] who is starting to put his stamp on the team. But we hold no fear."

It had all been fairly par for the course in the Scottish Cup fifth round, until about 16:30 on Sunday afternoon, when Queen's Park decided to pull off one of the biggest shocks in the competition's history.

By knocking out Rangers, the Spiders joined Hibernian, Livingston, St Johnstone, Dundee, Celtic, and Aberdeen in the hat for the quarter-finals.

It’s a bitterly cold night in Paisley for the last of the fifth round ties.

St Mirren's home form of late has been patchy at best but they'll fancy their chances tonight against The Jambos.

Hearts fans have travelled in huge numbers again as their recent upturn in fortunes has brought increased optimism about their chances of Cup success this season.

Both sides have only played once to get to the fifth round, given their Premiership status.

Toyosi Olusanya's first-half double put the St Mirren in control against Queen of the South in the last round, and after the Doonhamers got one back Caolan Boyd-Munce had to score stick one in the top corner to make it comfortable.

Hearts' last game was also on the telly, and you might remember how they went behind against Brechin City to a Scott Bright screamer.

But goals from Yan Dhanda, debutant Elton Kabangu, and an own goal from former Jambo Kevin McHattie meant it was fairly comfortable for Neil Critchley's side.

There is just one change from the Hearts side that walloped Dundee 6-0 in the Premiership last weekend, and it seems to be an enforced change.

Musa Drammeh, who scored in that thumping win, misses out altogether and is replaced by Alan Forrest - who makes his first start since the 2-2 draw with Petrocub in the Conference League back in December.

There is a place on the bench for January signing Sander Kartum and the Norwegian midfielder could make his debut if called upon.
