Arsenal have won their past four away games in the competition - however, they have never won five in a row on the road in Europe before.

There's a realisation from Arsenal fans about the task in hand. They are not under any illusion that this is a very difficult away tie.

But the fielding of the team Mikel Arteta has put out of Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino in those positions. Thomas Partey, for me, was a crucial miss in the first leg. They feel more hopeful for this tie away from home than the one that started the home tie.

And their away from in Europe has been excellent, it's been a really good campaign. It's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, speaking to TNT Sports, said: "It's not just where we want to be, we want to make the final and we're very close. We learned a lot from the first game so we have a big conviction that we're going to do it tonight.

"It's where this club deserves to be but there's so much more to do, so much to win and so much consistency to show. Hopefully we're on the right trajectory.

"We're going to need a lot of players as it will be a really intensive match and we will have to change the game at some time so we need some fresh legs.

"They [PSG] were quite direct, we expected them to play much more but they were more direct so hopefully we can do better.

"We've faced big atmospheres every time in the Premier League. This club has been trying to reach the final and win it for a long time, hopefully that can play in our favour."

It's going to be very hostile inside the Parc des Princes for Arsenal when the game gets going.

The Arsenal goalkeepers have come out to warm up and they are already being jeered by the home crowd who are making a good noise 50 minutes ahead of kick-off.

There's just been a huge chorus of boos from the home fans and that was because the Arsenal goalkeepers came out to warm up.

It is an indication of the hugely hostile atmosphere the away side will be facing.

Ousmane Dembele has never lacked confidence, is super-passionate about football and arrived in Paris in August 2023 convinced of his ability to star and succeed at the club, despite the presence at the time of Kylian Mbappe.

Last summer, manager Luis Enrique told Dembele that, without Mbappe in the team, he needed more goals from him to go with his large number of assists - carte blanche for the player to show a more selfish approach with less passing and a bigger desire to score.

Some good news for Arsenal then that Ousmane Dembele is only fit enough for a place on the bench tonight.

That's a big improvement on last season when he got five goals in all competitions.

In fact, he has scored more goals this season than he managed in the last five combined.

What Ryan I believe is referencing there is Mikel Arteta playfully claiming that Arsenal won the past two Premier League trophies because they had more points at the end of those campaigns than Liverpool when they won the title this season.

Arteta was referring to the fact Liverpool were crowned this season's champions with fewer points than Arsenal achieved when finishing runners-up to Manchester City in the previous two campaigns.

"Winning trophies is about being in the right moment in the right place. Liverpool have won the title with less points than we have in the last two seasons. With the points of the past two season we have two Premier League [titles]," the 43-year-old said with a smile.

However, Liverpool, who have 82 points with three games remaining, could yet surpass the 89 points Arsenal achieved last season, and tally of 84 in 2022-23.

Liverpool sealed the title with four games remaining in April.

Tonight's match is season defining for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners have had a mixed campaign, with decisions they have felt have gone against them and also a number of injuries to key players.

However, if they manage to win tonight, all of that will be forgotten.

Ahead of the match Declan Rice said that Arsenal need 'magic moments' if they are to overturn the first leg defeat to PSG.

In the press conference I asked Rice whether he feels he has gone to an extra level with his performances in the number eight role.

He said that having Thomas Partey behind him has allowed him to get into the opposition box more.

Partey is back from suspension tonight so could the midfielder be the missing piece for Arsenal?

Paris St-Germain boss Luis Enrique is expecting Arsenal to make life difficult for his side as they push to try and turn the tie in their favour.

"It is a special game and we will approach it just as we have done until now," he said.

"We're bound to suffer because our opponents don't have a favourable result.

"We need to match our performance as closely as possible in the first leg to win the return leg and stay true to our ideas."

There is a totally different buzz around the Parc des Princes tonight than for previous Champions League visits by Premier League trio Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa.

The atmosphere was good on those occasions - but tonight is a different level as Paris St. Germain try to reach the Champions League Final for only the second time.

PSG's "ultras" wanted supporters to get to the stadium early and they have followed the instructions to the letter. It has the look and feel of a special night - as of course it will be for one of these teams.

The big concern for Arsenal - and what would be a big boost for PSG - is whether Ousmane Dembele is fit.

He scored the decisive goal in the first leg before going off with a hamstring problem.

However, he has trained this week and PSG boss Luis Enrique said he was available for selection.
