Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in 14 Bundesliga matches stretching back to March

Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig drew 1-1 as Bayern Munich took the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga.

Second-placed Dortmund remain unbeaten this season, but are four points behind Bayern after the champions beat Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening. Leipzig remain a point further back in third.

Leipzig took a seventh-minute lead through Christoph Baumgartner, who met Assan Ouedraogo's header across the face of goal with a first-time finish past Gregor Kobel.

That goal ended Dortmund's hopes of keeping a fifth consecutive Bundesliga clean sheet, but the hosts hit back to equalise 18 minutes later.

Maximilian Beier cut the ball back to an unmarked Serhou Guirassy inside the penalty area and he unselfishly squared to wing-back Yan Couto who scored with a deflected strike.

Ouedraogo should have restored Leipzig's lead early in the second half but dragged wide after Kobel had palmed a cross into danger.

Dortmund boss Niko Kovac introduced Jobe Bellingham - starting as a substitute for a fourth consecutive Bundesliga game - and Julian Brandt as the hosts looked for a winner.

Bellingham saw an effort blocked after he ran on to a cut-back, before Brandt's looping header crept just over the crossbar.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen made it seven games unbeaten in all competitions since sacking former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag with a 2-0 home win against strugglers Union Berlin.

Kasper Hjulmand's side took the lead in the 33rd minute when Ernest Poku met Lucas Vazquez's low cross to finish a flowing team move and score his second goal in as many games.

Union gifted the hosts a second four minutes into the second half when goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow passed straight to 19-year-old striker Christian Kofane, who slotted into an empty net as his meteoric rise continues.

Kofane was playing in Cameroon with AS Nylon a year ago, but scored his first Champions League goal on Wednesday and has now opened his Bundesliga account.

Leverkusen move up to fourth in the table with 11 points after six games.
