Birmingham City midfielder Tommy Doyle said the club feels "very much together" in preparation for its return to the Championship after last season's record-breaking promotion from League One.

The 23-year-old, who joined Blues on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, is one of seven new players brought in by boss Chris Davies as the club attempts to build on the momentum of their title-winning campaign in the third tier.

"I feel like this club is very together," Doyle told BBC Radio WM.

"You can feel that from the fans, to the manager, the players and the owners, and it's going to take everybody to get us to where we need to get to.

"We're feeling good at the moment. We've got all the foundations to do that, so it's up to us to go out and make it happen."

Doyle, who joined Wolves a year ago from Manchester City, said the way Davies gets his team to play - including attacking midfielders playing in the 'number 10' role - was a big part of him wanting to come to Blues.

"You have to look at a team that suits you," Doyle added.

"When I spoke to the gaffer in the summer, he told me what he wanted from me and where he sees me - I enjoyed that conversation.

"But now is the time to go out and do the work - and I'm just ready to go."
