Former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard believes Crystal Palace's England defender Marc Guehi has "all the attributes to take him a long way".
The 23-year-old has won plaudits for his performances in England's opening two games at Euro 2024 - his first major tournament.
Guehi has impressed since moving to Palace in 2012 from the Blues, where he came through the academy and made his first-team debut as a 19-year-old in the League Cup.
"I'm delighted for him," Lampard told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I gave him his debut at Chelsea and he is a really polite, humble lad.
"You could see that he had all the attributes to take him a long way - particularly the personality: he wanted to do well. I liked the idea of working with him at the time because when a young kid comes through and shows that humility and wants to do well, that is an amazing thing to work with as a coach.
"But to go away and play as he did at Palace and come into an England squad with high pressure and people saying 'I'm not sure about that', his position is now the one position we are not talking about, which is an amazing achievement from him.
"He has come into this team and is doing a job and doing it really well. That is very refreshing to see."
Crystal Palace will take on League One side Crawley Town at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday, 27 July.
The Eagles' opponents gained promotion from League Two last month by winning the fourth-tier play-offs at Wembley.
After facing Crawley, Oliver Glasner's Palace will then continue their pre-season preparations in the United States, taking on Wolves and West Ham United as already announced by the club.

England manager Gareth Southgate has a few selection headaches going into the final group match against Slovenia on Tuesday.
The performance in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Denmark in the second group game was criticised and Southgate described Trent Alexander-Arnold playing in midfield as an "experiment".
Should he be left out, that would mean one of Conor Gallagher, who has featured in both games so far, Kobbie Mainoo or Adam Wharton coming into midfield as Southgate looks to improve the level of control his side has during matches.
Kieran Trippier, who has been filling in at left-back for the injured Luke Shaw, missed nine games towards the end of the Premier League season and has played more during the tournament than was initially planned.
Trippier was seen to be drinking pickle juice during the first group game against Serbia as he went down with cramp and there had been hope that Shaw would be fit enough to have featured by now.
Shaw has not been on the training pitch with his team-mates for the past two sessions and has been following an individual programme, but was back on the pitch on Monday.
If Trippier is to be rested for the final group game, BBC Sport understands there is a strong possibility that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa could come into that position.
Joe Gomez has also played in that position for his club side Liverpool and has played there in the matches leading up to the tournament for England.
Manchester City defender John Stones feels Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi has really "bought into" their partnership in defence for England.
There were question marks over who would partner Stones at centre-back after Manchester United's Harry Maguire was left out of the final squad, but Guehi has stepped in seamlessly and received a lot plaudits for his performances in the first two games at his first major tournament.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Stones said 23-year-old Guehi had been "so good" and added: "For him to come in, not having felt the kind of feelings around tournament football before or these kind of games, all the different emotions that come with it that you've never experienced before, he has handled them so well in his performances.
"I said to him: 'When we're in this, whoever we're playing with, I'm your right arm, you're my left, we do this together - I've got your back.' He's bought into that.
"I believe massively, in partnerships, that you do it all together."
Despite lacklustre displays from the Three Lions against Serbia and Denmark, Guehi, who has 13 caps for England, has been the standout performer in Gareth Southgate's side.
"We could have done better the other day with the goal [against Denmark] - but if it is going to be struck from that far out, sometimes you have got to hold your hands up," added Stones.
"He's handled the occasion so well and I've really enjoyed playing with him."
Stones also praised Guehi's Palace team-mate Adam Wharton, who is also part of England's Euro 2024 squad.
Asked what has impressed him about the 20-year-old midfielder, Stones said: "The way he does the basics incredibly well, which is something so underrated.
"Using space well, little things like that. His ball retention and calmness are incredible for such a young guy."
Crystal Palace have a replacement lined up who is "even better" than winger Michael Olise, who is set to join Bayern Munich. (Talksport), external

We asked you whether Eberechi Eze and Adam Wharton should be given more minutes for England at Euro 2024 and, if so, how the Crystal Palace could improve the team's performances in Germany.
Here are some of your responses:
Jack: Think it's time Wharton was given a shot. His ability to pick out a pass and calmness on the ball when under pressure has been great for Palace. If he can do the same for England it can only be a good thing.
Grant: After the game when Southgate said about not having a natural replacement for Kalvin Phillips, every Palace fan would be screaming Wharton at him! You have taken him so let's use him! If anything it's an insult to our midfielders when the manager claims there's not the correct player so I'm going to play a defender there instead.
Pedro: I think Wharton would go well with Rice, replacing Trent. Eze for Foden. Have Kane on the bench for Palmer or Gordon. We're stale, so this may freshen us up.
Kiran: If Bellingham is having a bad game then moving Foden to the centre and playing Eze on the wing would make a lot of sense.
Alan: Wharton should be a shoo-in for the number six role, his positioning and distribution is top class, always looking to play forwards, never gives the ball away and is the connector we are missing. Will free up Bellingham and Rice to get forward and will transform our midfield and team shape.
Alex: I think Southgate should start with Eze and Wharton as the others like Foden have been poor and the system obviously isn't working. Eze can run past several defenders and brings a bit of magic instead of playing boring predictable football from the first two games.
Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi has been one of England's stand-out performers so far at Euro 2024, but England have struggled in midfield in the first two games and things are not quite clicking in attack either.
So, is it time for Gareth Southgate to give two other Eagles a chance?
With 11 goals and four assists across the Premier League season and having finished the club campaign in free-scoring form, Eberechi Eze is one option to potentially sharpen up the Three Lions' attack.
Meanwhile, since joining Palace midway through the season, 20-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton registered three assists and has impressed many with his calmness in possession. Could he be the perfect candidate to unlock England's attacking talent?
How can both improve England's performances?

The fixtures for the new Premier League season are out and we asked you for your predictions on where Crystal Palace will be after 10 games.
Here is a selection of your comments:
Gyika: If we keep our main players and bring in a few more for depth, after 10 games we'll be top five under Glasner.
Max: If the final two months of last season are anything to go by, we could average around two points a game in the first 10. I predict us to have a strong start and kick on from the positive end to last season - 20 points should be the aim.
Luca: A very nice opening set of fixtures - a lot of fairly winnable ones. About 18 points would be a brilliant return and a good platform for us to push on from.
Matthew: After the first 10 games without Eze and Olise, relegation zone.
Paul: We would be happy with 15 points, but honestly feel it'll be more like 18 or 19.

What should you look out for?

Matches around European games
This will be even more keenly assessed than usual given the four clubs in the Champions League and two in the Europa League will have eight first-phase games rather than six. Long trips before or after European games do not go down well with managers.
Matches around internationals
There are international breaks in September, October, November and March. In Europe, the first three of those are for Nations League fixtures. World Cup qualifiers in Europe start in March 2025, though in South America and Asia they are being played in all four windows.
England managers tend not to be keen on blockbuster league matches immediately before a break and club bosses are equally unhappy at having to play key matches after them when so many players get back on Thursday or Friday.
Festive fixtures
To allow for a mid-August start, there will not be a winter break this season. The Premier League has assured clubs they will not be asked to play twice in less than 60 hours at any point over Christmas and New Year. That rules out any club playing on 26 December also having a game on 28 December. There will be no Christmas Eve fixture in the 2024-25 season.
As the FA Cup third round has been moved from its traditional home on the first weekend of January to the second, it does seem there will be four rounds of fixtures over the festive period - starting on 21 December and ending on 5 January.
New managers
Four Premier League clubs already have new managers - Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton), Enzo Maresca (Chelsea), Arne Slot (Liverpool) and Julen Lopetegui (West Ham) - with a fifth to come at Leicester. So that's a new era beginning at 25% of clubs before a ball has been kicked. Russell Martin will take charge of a top-flight game for the first time after Southampton's promotion.

Marc Guehi's performances have not gone unnoticed by the Premier League's elite.
The former Chelsea player has excelled since he was taken to Crystal Palace by sporting director Dougie Freedman, after a successful loan period with Swansea in the Championship.
Palace accept that bids may come in for the centre-back, who only has two years left on his contract, this summer.
He has been linked with Manchester United but it is thought that a number of teams at the top end of the Premier League have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.
With Guehi likely to play a big role for England during Euro 2024, that interest will only increase - if he impresses.
Within the England camp, there is a firm belief he can excel.

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi received plenty of plaudits after his performance in England's 1-0 win over Serbia at Euro 2024.
Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate told BBC Radio 5 Live that the 23-year-old had "passed his test" after a flawless performance in his side's opening game of the tournament.
"I saw the player I have seen every week for his club," said Southgate. "It was going to be a particular test in terms of his stature, as he isn't the biggest centre-back, but he dealt with the aerial threat really well."
Former England defender Micah Richards said he was "very impressed" with Guehi's performance, stating: "He was very calm and composed. It must be daunting to enter your first major tournament at times, but he did not show it at all."
The Eagles defender did not put a foot wrong for the full 90 minutes, racking up a 96% pass completion rate and winning 100% of his tackles and ground duels.
Former Three Lions goalkeeper Joe Hart praised Guehi as England's "standout performer" on the Football Daily podcast.
"Huge shoutout to Marc Guehi," he said. "I thought he was exceptional. He really stepped in and was really calm on the ball.
"I thought Guehi allowed John Stones to play his game. The more Marc plays, the better that [centre-back] partnership will get."
