Brentford and Crystal Palace will open their Premier League campaigns with their meeting on Sunday, 18 August.
Brentford are winless in all six of their Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace (D5 L1). They are the team the Bees have faced the joint-most without winning (also six v Newcastle). Brentford are the team the Eagles have faced the joint-most without losing (also six v QPR).
Following a 3-1 win in December 2023, Palace are looking to win consecutive league games against the Bees for the first time since December 1957.
Palace beat Sheffield United 1-0 in their opening league game last season but have not won their first league match in consecutive campaigns since 2006-07 and 2007-08.

What should you look out for?

Matches around European games
This will be even more keenly assessed than usual given the four clubs in the Champions League and two in the Europa League will have eight first-phase games rather than six. Long trips before or after European games do not go down well with managers.
Matches around internationals
There are international breaks in September, October, November and March. In Europe, the first three of those are for Nations League fixtures. World Cup qualifiers in Europe start in March 2025, though in South America and Asia they are being played in all four windows.
England managers tend not to be keen on blockbuster league matches immediately before a break and club bosses are equally unhappy at having to play key matches after them when so many players get back on Thursday or Friday.
Festive fixtures
To allow for a mid-August start, there will not be a winter break this season. The Premier League has assured clubs they will not be asked to play twice in less than 60 hours at any point over Christmas and New Year. That rules out any club playing on 26 December also having a game on 28 December. There will be no Christmas Eve fixture in the 2024-25 season.
As the FA Cup third round has been moved from its traditional home on the first weekend of January to the second, it does seem there will be four rounds of fixtures over the festive period - starting on 21 December and ending on 5 January.
New managers
Four Premier League clubs already have new managers - Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton), Enzo Maresca (Chelsea), Arne Slot (Liverpool) and Julen Lopetegui (West Ham) - with a fifth to come at Leicester. So that's a new era beginning at 25% of clubs before a ball has been kicked. Russell Martin will take charge of a top-flight game for the first time after Southampton's promotion.
Could Guehi be on the move this summer?published at 12:10 17 June 2024

Marc Guehi's performances have not gone unnoticed by the Premier League's elite.
The former Chelsea player has excelled since he was taken to Crystal Palace by sporting director Dougie Freedman, after a successful loan period with Swansea in the Championship.
Palace accept that bids may come in for the centre-back, who only has two years left on his contract, this summer.
He has been linked with Manchester United but it is thought that a number of teams at the top end of the Premier League have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.
With Guehi likely to play a big role for England during Euro 2024, that interest will only increase - if he impresses.
Within the England camp, there is a firm belief he can excel.
Guehi 'calm and composed' after 'passing his test'published at 09:29 17 June 2024

Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi received plenty of plaudits after his performance in England's 1-0 win over Serbia at Euro 2024.
Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate told BBC Radio 5 Live that the 23-year-old had "passed his test" after a flawless performance in his side's opening game of the tournament.
"I saw the player I have seen every week for his club," said Southgate. "It was going to be a particular test in terms of his stature, as he isn't the biggest centre-back, but he dealt with the aerial threat really well."
Former England defender Micah Richards said he was "very impressed" with Guehi's performance, stating: "He was very calm and composed. It must be daunting to enter your first major tournament at times, but he did not show it at all."
The Eagles defender did not put a foot wrong for the full 90 minutes, racking up a 96% pass completion rate and winning 100% of his tackles and ground duels.
Former Three Lions goalkeeper Joe Hart praised Guehi as England's "standout performer" on the Football Daily podcast.
"Huge shoutout to Marc Guehi," he said. "I thought he was exceptional. He really stepped in and was really calm on the ball.
"I thought Guehi allowed John Stones to play his game. The more Marc plays, the better that [centre-back] partnership will get."
'A smart bit of business to start the summer'published at 16:29 14 June 2024

We asked for your views on Crystal Palace's first summer signing Chadi Riad and whether you think he will make a positive impact.
Here are some of your views:
Sam: It's good to keep promising young players coming in! This seems like a good price and if Guehi has a strong Euros it is likely we'll be selling him for a strong profit. It looks like a smart bit of business to start the summer.
Luca: This is agreat start to the window. Young, promising, La Masia-grown centre-back for a decent price. Good for squad depth. Onwards and upwards.
Don: It will be interesting to see if signing Riad is to enable Guehi to be sold or if he is intended to replace Tomkins on the bench. Palace could start next season with the most talented squad they have had since the Wright and Bright days unless forced to sell the likes of Olise, Eze, Wharton and Guehi. At least if they do, FFP won’t be a worry.
Guehi's calm nature, passing accuracy and speedpublished at 15:46 14 June 2024

England's Euro 2024 chances could hinge on how they make use of their attacking riches, but concerns linger about the team's defensive vulnerability.
Harry Maguire has been a mainstay in the team but misses this tournament through injury, and Gareth Southgate looks set to pick 23-year-old Marc Guehi as his left-sided centre-half for Sunday's opening game against Serbia (20:00 BST).
With only 11 caps, Guehi lacks the profile and international exposure of England's more established defenders such as John Stones and Kyle Walker - but he is highly thought of in the England camp.
One of Guehi's biggest strengths is his calm nature on the ball and how he deals with high-pressure situations.
In the Premier League, his passing accuracy of 87.2% last season was higher than Maguire and highly rated Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who did not make the final 26-man Euros squad.
For England, that stat goes up to 95.1% - better than Maguire and Stones.
Guehi is also quick. His top speed in the 2023-24 Premier League season of 33.92km/h ranked him in the top 30 centre-backs in the league - perhaps not the quickest of the lot, but faster than Lewis Dunk, Stones and Maguire.
Southgate has been introducing Guehi gradually, along with a number of young players, but he has emerged as the centre-back to step in if Stones or Maguire are unavailable.
He has been a key player and occasional captain for Crystal Palace over the past three seasons and he is a former England Under-21 skipper.
Guehi's relatively young age, Premier League experience, and his ability to play in the left-sided centre-back position means that he is highly admired by many teams.
Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has played with Guehi since they were both in the Blues academy. They were team-mates for Palace in the Premier League, when Gallagher was on loan at Selhurst Park, and now they have united on the international stage with England.
"He will be brilliant if he does [start in the Serbia match]," Gallagher said. "Top guy, top player."
"I couldn't be happier if he started some games at the tournament. He has been brilliant for Crystal Palace and England when he has played. He is more than ready, for sure.
"He is very professional, a great leader as well. I think he has got everything you need to be a top defender."
Why is Olise in such high demand?published at 14:34 14 June 2024

This summer's prominent Premier League transfer saga appears set to centre around Crystal Palace's Michael Olise.
Alex Howell has reported Chelsea, Newcastle United and Bayern Munich have all contacted Palace to register their interest in the 22-year-old winger, who the Eagles will only part ways with for at least £60m.
Olise is a rarity in modern football - a true flair player with the end product to match. A player whose output matches their creativity.
As an attacking threat it is difficult to identify a weakness, with the inconsistency of his youth giving way to sustained high-level performances when fit last season.
His versatility allows him to seamlessly drift between operating as a number 10 or on the right-hand side.
Cutting inside from the right and whipping shots into the far corner has become a trademark, but his unpredictability means he can thread through balls and run at defenders whilst maintaining the threat of letting fly from distance.
His 10 goals and six assists in just 19 Premier League games reveal a player whose vision and playmaking ability match his ruthlessness in front of goal.
As a dribbler, few can match Olise's capacity to slow a defender down before breezing past them with his silky style. His exaggerated body movements and feints have embarrassed some illustrious opponents over the past few seasons - just ask Manchester United who he cut apart in May.
The former Reading man also possesses a wicked delivery, both from open play and dead-ball situations, and has scored two direct free-kicks for Palace, including a stunning last-minute equaliser against United in 2023.
The composure in his play is matched by a persona in interviews that can border on indifference. Flappable Olise is not.
With three excellent Premier League seasons under his belt, and an age profile that means he will only get better, it is easy to see why England and Europe's elite are chasing his signature.
'A perfect fit' - Riad on Palace switchpublished at 12:34 14 June 2024

New Crystal Palace signing Chadi Riad says he has "dreamed" of playing in the Premier League, describing the move as "a perfect fit".
The 20-year-old defender, capped three times by Morocco, completed his switch from Barcelona on Friday for an initial £12m, plus £2m in add-ons.
Riad spent last season on loan at Real Betis, making 30 appearances for the La Liga side managed by former Manchester City and West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Speaking to Palace TV, external, he said: "I have dreamed of playing in the Premier League since I was a kid. It's is the best league in the world with excellent players, and I'm really looking forward to playing [here].
"I would describe myself as a calm footballer, but with grit.
"I have spoken to my team-mates - like Pablo Fornals, who played in the Premier League with Marc Roca. They have told me I'm going to enjoy this league and I hope [I will]."
And speaking to the fans directly, Riad added: "I just want to say thank you very much, because you are already showing me support on social media."
