We asked for your thoughts after Monday's Premier League game between Brighton and Liverpool.

Here are some of your comments:

    Brighton fans

Callum: Huge performance! Everyone played their part. I think a really big shoutout should go to 17-year-old Harry Howell, who came on at a pretty nervy point of the game and held on remarkably, even nearly getting an assist. Fingers crossed results go our way for Europe.

Glyn: Brajan Gruda grew into a special player. He will be immense next season.

Oli: So impressive from that young midfield three of Yasin Ayari, Simon Adingra and Gruda over the past few weeks. Adingra looks revitalised after having a tough season. I think we are all very eager to see what they can produce next season especially if, fingers crossed, it's in Europe!

    Liverpool fans

Ian: I know we wrapped up the league two weeks ago, but this is getting embarrassing. Slot should realise people pay their hard-earned cash to watch games. We should be sending a message to the other teams by putting out the strongest team and beating these sides. I just hope the performance on Sunday is a much-improved one. I don't want it to spoil the celebrations with another defeat.

Wayne: Below-par performance yet again, this is the worst team to have won the Premier League title. I would be very surprised if we even qualify for the Champions League next season.

Shaun: Going off that game, we need seven or eight new players for next season. The back-up boys just aren't good enough. The past few games Harvey Elliott has played he has gone backwards, the same with Curtis Jones and Jarell Quansah. Conor Bradley and Ibrahima Konate also had mares.

  2. 'A great game of football but not the result we wanted' - Slotpublished at 07:30 20 May

    Arne SlotImage source, Getty Images

Liverpool boss Arne Slot, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Two very good teams wanting to play football with no time wasting and no diving. Momentum changed in the game and I waited for us to score the third, as that would have killed the game, but they made it 2-2.

"It was a great game of football but not the result we wanted.

"These moments at this level do make a difference. Just before that miss Mohamed Salah gave a similar chance to Federico [Chiesa] and it was very well blocked. We played eighth in the Premier League and they were able to bring on Karou Mitoma. That shows you about the strength of this league.

"If you don't score the third one then it's hard to win a game at this level, especially away from home. We cannot miss chances like we did if you want to win the game."

On fringe players getting their chance to play: "They have played their part in certain games and played their part on the training ground. They deserve playing time. Many of them have to go to the national team so it's important for them to have their playing time and that's why we've rotated a bit. That's not why we've dropped points to Chelsea and Brighton because they are good teams."

    • Liverpool lost a Premier League game having led at half-time for the first time since December 2016 (a 4-3 loss at Bournemouth), ending their run of 156 games without defeat when leading at the break.

    • The Reds are also the first side to be crowned Premier League champions and then fail to win their next three games in the competition in the same season.

  4. Brighton 3-2 Liverpool: Fringe players fail to shinepublished at 23:45 19 May

Liverpool led 1-0 and 2-1 before losing 3-2 to Brighton

Liverpool became Premier League champions with four games to spare but have not won a game since then with one draw and two losses.

Against Brighton, boss Arne Slot will be concerned that some of his squad players failed to shine.

Captain Virgil van Dijk, who had played every minute of Liverpool's Premier League campaign, remained an unused substitute with Jarell Quansah partnering Ibrahima Konate, while Kostas Tsimikas and Conor Bradley were full-backs.

Bradley did well to create Liverpool's first goal and had a chance to add a second, but was caught the wrong side of Yasin Ayari for the hosts' first goal and Liverpool looked vulnerable defensively.

But Brighton were the better team after the break and Slot will be unhappy that the winning goal came from a cross with substitute Jack Hinshelwood, who had only been on the pitch for less than two minutes, being able to head home the decisive goal.

Still, despite this disappointment, Liverpool fans will soon forget this result and can start looking forward to Sunday's match against Crystal Palace at Anfield, with the Reds getting their hands on the Premier League trophy afterwards.

  5. Sutton's predictions: Brighton v Liverpool published at 08:57 19 May

    Sutton's predictions graphic

It's so hard to make a prediction for this game because I have no idea what the Liverpool line-up will look like, or what their mindset will be.

Arne Slot's side will lift the Premier League trophy at Anfield after their final game of the season against Crystal Palace next weekend. Their work is done, and they have got that party to look forward to, so how focused will they be here?

As things stand, Brighton do have something to play for because eighth place will get them in the Europa Conference League, if Manchester City win the FA Cup.

The Seagulls played really well at Wolves last week, and fully deserved their win.

They gave Liverpool a good game at Anfield earlier in the season, when they led 1-0 at half-time but lost 2-1, and if Slot picks a weakened team then they are good enough to take advantage.

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Mohamed Salah has scored 16 away goals in the Premier League this season, the joint-most in a single campaign in the competition's history (level with Harry Kane in 2022-23 and Kevin Phillips in 1999-2000).

The Egyptian could make his 300th Premier League appearance in this match. He would be just the fourth African player to reach this milestone, after Kolo Toure (353), Wilfried Zaha (305) and Jordan Ayew (303).

  8. 'A future club captain?' and 'Trent who?'published at 21:36 17 May

We asked you to tell us what you would like to see from 21-year-old Conor Bradley next season, after the right-back signed a new four-year contract at Anfield.

Here are some of your replies:

Mark: I'm delighted that Conor and the club have reached this agreement. He has such potential, pace and quality. I can see him playing higher up the pitch in the future. Perhaps a future club captain?

Eug: He's not quite up to Trent Alexander-Arnold's standard yet but, if he keeps improving at the same rate, it won't be long. Liverpool have to sign a replacement for TAA, no doubt, but if they alternate between Bradley and the new player we will have two good players in the same position.

Ian: The lad is pure class! I see him being a very fast learner. Trent who? Bradders is our No.2 now!

David: Conor should be a starter next season for all of the domestic cup competitions, including the Community Shield. Jeremie Frimpong should be placed into the Premier League starting line-ups but the position must be challenged by them both. Either way, it is a good problem to have!

  9. Bradley eyes assists, improvement and trophiespublished at 17:11 17 May

Conor Bradley signs a new contractImage source, Getty Images

Conor Bradley is eyeing "continued success" with Premier League champions Liverpool after agreeing a new four-year contract.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Reds in 2019, signed a professional contract in 2020 and has now agreed fresh terms.

Asked if the club can push on from securing the league title, Bradley said: "I think that's the main thing for us now – we want to make this continued success. We don't want to just have one Premier League trophy, we want to have multiple and we want to win Champions Leagues and FA Cups and Carabao Cups. We've just got to keep being hungry for more success and I'm pretty sure with the squad we have that we will continue to be that.

"I dreamed of obviously being able to play for the first team and things like that, make my debut. I don't know if you know if it's going to happen or not, you're just hoping almost. But to achieve all the things I've achieved with the club to this date is pretty special and I just want to keep making more memories together and keep it going."

Bradley could become Liverpool's main right-back next season as Trent Alexander-Arnold prepares to leave the club. Arne Slot's side are linked with several names in the position but asked about his own personal development, Bradley said: "I think more than anything I'm just growing into my body a bit more now. I feel a lot more physically strong, I feel quicker, I feel more powerful – and I think that's really helping me when I do play games.

"I think there's massive improvement from this time last year, and hopefully I can keep going on that trajectory and just keep getting better. I just want to keep improving, keep getting better every day. I just want to try to maximise whatever my potential is and try to be the best version of myself. Hopefully I can do that in the years to come and just keep getting better.

"I probably want to add more assists and goals to my game – obviously I've had a few. But defending as well I want to get better. To be honest, probably just everywhere. I just want to keep striving to be better at everything and just keep doing as well as I can."

It might be easier said than done but Liverpool boss Arne Slot says "now it's time to draw a line under" the situation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Alexander-Arnold was booed by sections of the Anfield crowd when he came on as a substitute against Arsenal last Sunday in his first outing after announcing he would be leaving the club at the end of his contract this summer.

The 26-year-old, who is expected to join Real Madrid, was also booed when he touched the ball, although there was also applause from other fans.

The Reds, who have already won the Premier League title, have two games remaining this season and they play away at Brighton on Monday before they end the campaign with a home match against Crystal Palace on Sunday, 25 May.

"Let's focus now on the fact that we've won the league and for us to enjoy the upcoming one-and-a-half weeks with that feeling and not talk and be distracted that much about Trent's situation," said Slot.

The Dutchman has not had a chance to speak to Alexander-Arnold about the situation as training will resume on Friday after some time off for the Reds boss and players.

Slot has been pictured in Ibiza in the week and, when asked how much thought he had given to the two games left compared to transfers, he amusingly replied, "Did you see me this week on social media?!"

He added: "No, no, even if you are celebrating over there, that doesn't mean that the whole day you don't think about something else."

Liverpool boss Arne Slot speaks to the media about links with Jeremie Frimpong

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been speaking to the media before Monday's Premier League game against Brighton (kick-off 20:00 BST).

Here are the key lines from his news conference:

    • On Liverpool being ready to trigger the release clause of Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong: "We don't talk about the players we want to bring in until they have signed for us."

    • He said now is time to "draw a line under" the reaction to departing right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold and to "enjoy" the feeling of winning the Premier League.

    • Slot said it is too early to decide whether Alexander-Arnold will play a role in the last two games because the side only returned to training on Friday.

    • On whether the extra days off and three training days is enough to prepare for Brighton: "If we can't get a result there then that has nothing to do with players enjoying a few days off but it will probably be the story in the media."

    • In response to the lack of game time for winger Federico Chiesa he said Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo all "deserved" to stay in the team because of their strong form when Chiesa was out injured.

    • But he added: "In terms of the quality then he deserves more playing time at this club or whatever club he is playing for."

    • Asked if it is harder to motivate his players after securing the title: "I think the honest answer is yes."

We asked for Liverpool fans' thoughts on Everton leaving Goodison Park.

Here are some of the comments:

Tim: I've been a Liverpool fan for over 55 years and I am delighted Everton have a new stadium. It will be great for the city and great for the club. Every Scouser never wants those noisy neighbours down the East Lancs to have bragging rights about their teams or stadium. I hope it brings Everton success and that they come second in every competition from here on, behind the mighty Liverpool. Also, it's an inspired move by the new owners to turn over Goodison to the women's team.

Ken: Was hoping they'd move further away into the Championship wilderness for a few years.

Dawn: Will be sad to see them go. I'm actually a Red, but I've enjoyed seeing Goodison from the windows of the concourse at Anfield, plus it's been there all my life. When I was a poor student at the beginning of the 70s when we really did have friendly derbies, I worked there selling pies and tea. I remember how cold it was on that concourse in the winter. Great memories of Goodison.

Alan: Everton are a great and historic establishment in Liverpool, however over the past few years, some Everton fans have become bitter. I'll be glad to see them go.

Tom: Been to Goodison a few times over the years and was always my favourite place for the Reds to win. The Tarkowski goal this season was fitting for the last derby there (even though it did ruin my mood for a few days afterwards). The new ground looks good and my Blue mates are excited for the future, so good for them. Be interesting to see if they hit the ground running or do a West Ham and take a few years to get comfortable there.

Tony: As a Liverpool fan I can't wait to see the back of the place.

  14. How will Slot handle Alexander-Arnold situation?published at 11:24 16 May

    Mandeep Sanghera
    BBC Sport journalist

Liverpool manager Arne Slot and Trent Alexander-ArnoldImage source, Getty Images

There is one main story that has been dominating the Liverpool agenda this week and it's not Reds boss Arne Slot being pictured in Ibiza celebrating his team's Premier League title win.

The story in question is, of course, about Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He was booed when he came on as a substitute for the Premier League champions against Arsenal last Sunday in his first game since announcing he was leaving the Reds at the end of his contract in the summer.

There was also some applause for the England international but the reaction to him from Liverpool fans has been a big talking point.

Slot will be speaking to the media at 13:30 BST today prior to his side's visit to Brighton on Monday so we'll find out his thoughts on the situation.

Will he continue to play Alexander-Arnold? And what about his participation in the final home game of the season at Anfield against Crystal Palace when Liverpool will lift the Premier League trophy a day before an open-top bus parade?

It looks like Liverpool are closing in on a move for Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, who plays down the right flank, so we'll find out if Slot has any news on that as well.
