Wissa set to stay at Brentfordpublished at 12:20 3 February

Nottingham Forest had eyes on Brentford's Yoane Wissa as a potential striking target before the window closed but the trail has gone cold.
It was reported Forest were willing to pay in excess of £20m for the 28-year-old, who has scored 11 Premier League goals this season.
Brentford were not willing sellers and would demand well in excess of that fee to even consider a deal.
Forest had become increasingly pessimistic of any deal being sanctioned, while the Bees are in no mood to sell such a vital component of their attack.

James Ward-Prowse has returned to West Ham United after the Hammers and Nottingham Forest mutually agreed to end his loan spell at the City Ground.
The midfielder, 30, made 10 appearances for Forest, who thanked Ward-Prowse for his "professionalism and dedication during his time at the club".
West Ham said the return of the former Southampton captain will "add experience, depth and quality to head coach Graham Potter's squad for the second half of the campaign".
What do you want on deadline day?published at 07:36 3 February

We asked you what would ensure you are satisfied this deadline day.
Here are some of your comments:
Ryan: There is no minimum requirement. If we have to stick with what we have, then nobody will be too upset. If we can bring in a classy attacking option, then nice. If not, no biggie!
Alun: Keeping our squad together, above all else, is imperative. Adding a striker seems to be the popular choice, but I wouldn't want to lose Taiwo Awoniyi and then fail to bring in an equally if not better player. Chris Wood is playing so well at the moment, but we still need to keep big T, who has had an awfully long time out so keep the faith in him.
Mick: We're short of strikers so another back-up striker for Wood would be ideal. Someone who'll fit in but there is no need to break the bank.
Al: Bring back Dale Taylor from his loan at Wigan. I'm not saying he's going to make a massive difference but we won't know until we try him. It could save us a packet in the process.
Sean: There's not really much that needs changing throughout the team. The dressing room is unified, they're following Nuno's vision and it's going rather well! If we need new players, it's only to cover for what we've already got. So attacking-wise we could go for a striker to cover if Awoniyi moves on, or just as cover to Awoniyi and Wood. As long as the talent we have stays together, that will be a successful window.
Nigel: Back-up for Wood with a view to a more long-term option.

'Not a spent force' - Forest's outstanding rebound against Brightonpublished at 16:31 2 February

Nuno Espirito Santo's side are still very much a counter-attacking team, but he has improved their quality.
We cannot overlook Anthony Elanga's performance against Brighton. He was absolutely electric going forward and collected three more assists. Two of them were for Chris Wood yet again, and them two have combined for so many goals this season.
Forest might be counter-attacking more often as well but, when they do counter now, they do it to devastating effect. Therefore, they are probably converting a higher number of their breakaways into goals.
In an attacking sense, Morgan Gibbs-White put out probably the best individual performance we have seen from any player since the club got promoted back into the Premier League. That also contributed to them getting their biggest result since getting promoted. I thought he was outstanding.
But all of the other players around him were too. It was great to see Danilo back - he contributed well. Elliot Anderson was superb in midfield, as he has been for the most part of this season.
So many of them were right back at it, after so many of them had been so far off it last week at Bournemouth.
That just shows an awful lot about the spirit and determination in camp. They came out and said: 'Right, it was bad last week but let's show people that we are not done'.
Nottingham Forest are far from a spent force this season.

Nottingham Forest 7-0 Brighton - the fans' verdictpublished at 10:34 2 February

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
Here are some of your comments:
Forest fans
James: What a win. Seven goals, a hat-trick for Wood and a hat-trick of assists for Elanga. Everyone gave 100% and it was the best response to the defeat last week. Nuno has been a breath of fresh air for this club after Steve Cooper. Long may it continue.
Steve: Bouncing back from a 5-0 drubbing is only bettered by the quality throughout this team. We look quality, even after the substitutes. In Matz Sels, we have one of the best keepers in the league.
Fosi: Superb display. The whole XI were totally committed. I was unable to pick out one player above the rest! Please repeat this performance over and over! Superb.
Joshua: We dominated the whole game! An amazing performance, well done. If we keep this up, we are going to give Liverpool a difficult time.
Mark: That's the way to answer a heavy defeat. Real Madrid, look out!
Brighton fans
Robert: An embarrassing performance from start to finish. The lack of fight from these players was the worst thing for me. Hurzeler is getting found out tactically at this level. He is more obsessed with playing a system rather than getting the best out of the players he has to win games. We have more chance of relegation than European football based on this performance.
Keven: Clueless, no vision and slow, telegraphed play. Too many players were too close to each other, leaving plenty of space for Forest to exploit. The manager is struggling to find a style of play that opens up teams. Maybe this is a bridge too far for him at this stage of his career? Is it time for a change?
Fran: The manager got it all wrong. You can't keep changing the team like that. Defensively, we were a shambles. We need to play the same side, barring injuries, every week - just like other teams do. Unless we learn from this, our season is over - if it isn't already.
Ed: Absolutely pathetic. It's like we don't want to win! Why did we start one midfielder against a team sitting third in the league? Shambles.

'Seeing our fans happy is what we work for'published at 16:11 1 February

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "The response on the pitch from the players was beyond our expectations. We were concerned and we wanted to put it right because last week wasn't good enough. They were aware of that and the response was great.
"We were very fortunate and lucky to score first, an own goal but it was a good movement from Morgan [Gibbs-White]. He stepped into the box, had a good delivery and Brighton reacted immediately. After that, it is always difficult."
On Chris Wood's performance: "Amazing. More than anything, it is the way he works for the team, the way he helps. Three assists from Anthony [Elanga] also - a hat-trick of assists - so more delight."
On Anthony Elanga's performance: "Great. It is very beautiful to see. When he puts all of his talent [on show], it is very hard [to stop him]."
On the Forest fans: "Their support is great and we cannot thank them enough. It was beautiful to see the atmosphere at the City Ground, seeing our fans happy is what we work for. At the same time, seeing our players and the way they celebrate the other players' goals, is important.
"It's important for us that we keep this team spirit and try to build. We are confident going forwards."
Nottingham Forest 7-0 Brighton: Ruthless hosts deliver perfect responsepublished at 15:27 1 February

How do you respond to your heaviest defeat of the season? By claiming your biggest top-flight victory in nearly 34 years.
That's just what high-flying Nottingham Forest did against Brighton on Saturday, romping to a 7-0 victory to deliver the ideal reaction to last weekend's 5-0 reverse at Bournemouth.
Nuno Espirito Santo's switch to a back three, designed to give his attacking players more freedom, proved a masterstroke as his players treated the home supporters at the City Ground to a ruthless attacking display, in which Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga played integral roles.
Wood, who had scored nine league goals against Brighton before Saturday, lifted his 2024-25 league tally to 17 with a well-taken treble. Only Stan Collymore (22 in 1994-95) has scored more for Forest in a single season in the competition.
After setting up Morgan Gibbs-White's header and Wood's first of the afternoon before the break, Elanga completed a hat-trick of assists in the second half when he teed up Wood following a mazy run.
The home side were given a helping hand by Brighton on a number of occasions as Lewis Dunk put through his own net for the opener, Tariq Lamptey conceded a penalty for a clumsy foul on Gibbs-White and goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen passed straight to Jota Silva for Forest's seventh.
But there was no taking the shine off a ruthless Forest performance as Nuno's team registered their biggest league win since thrashing Chelsea 7-0 in the top-flight in April 1991.
Elanga and Wood 'work so hard for us' - Gibbs-Whitepublished at 15:20 1 February

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White has been praising some of his team-mates on TNT Sports.
Speaking about Anthony Elanga's peformance, Gibbs-White said: "He is incredible. He is incredibly fast, so you just know to put it in the space and he will get there. He has been really knuckling down on his end product this year, and it has been incredible.
"As you can see today, he has got three assists - so credit to him. I think he deserves a little bit more credit than what he has been getting because he works so hard on and off the pitch."
On Chris Wood's performance, Gibbs-White added: "He is just one of those strikers that you know where he is going to be and where he wants to receive the ball. This season, he has just been so clinical. He is a real delight to play with.
"Off the ball, he works so hard for us. I don't think people notice that as much and that is one of his main strengths. He never gives up and is always fighting for any little tap in, and those are the best goals.
"He is mature and he is sensible. He is someone [in the dressing room] that you go to if there needs to be questions asked."
'That response showed exactly where we want to be heading'published at 15:12 1 February

Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White has also been speaking to TNT Sports: "That's exactly what we wanted after last week, and exactly what the fans wanted. Last week was no way near our standards, we have been working on things to put it right all week in training and the lads were incredible today.
"We completely nullified everything they did and caught them a couple of times on the counter-attack. We were clinical in the final third."
On responding to last week's defeat: "Last week was really tough to take. We had a clear game plan of what we wanted to do. Fair play to Bournemouth, they nullified us. It was just about using the character and belief in the squad, choosing how we wanted to respond, and choosing which way we wanted to move in the table.
"Do we want to crumble or do we want to bounce back? That response today showed exactly where we want to be heading."
On his involvement in the goals: "We played five at the back and three in midfield today, so myself and Elliot [Anderson] had a bit more license to roam across the right side, to move higher or deeper to get on the ball.
"We had been working on things in training and had found that there was a real gap at the front post. I saw the gap appear, the ball appeared perfectly and I just had to add a little flick on it [to take it in]."
'We can't be complacent, we have to keep working hard'published at 15:05 1 February

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has been speaking to TNT Sports following the win: "It is all about the attitude from the lads. We wanted to start the game on the front foot, and we did. Then we said: 'Let's keep going for more'.
"We know how it felt last week and we wanted to make sure that Brighton felt the same.
"It is always nice to contribute. You could see I kept on running at the end because I wanted a goal. I said to Chris [Wood] at half time: 'Let's keep pushing for more', so I'm happy he got the hat-trick of goals.
"The most important thing is to win - and we did that."
On pushing for Europe: "It is all about taking it game-by-game. We can't be complacent. We have to keep working hard, continue to let our football do the talking and let the fans continue to believe."
'What a difference a week can make'published at 14:58 1 February

Nottingham Forest hat-trick scorer and man of the match Chris Wood has been speaking to TNT Sports: "What a difference a week can make. We were down in the dumps after last week. It wasn't us, it wasn't like us, but today was definitely us.
"It is all credit to the team. This lad [Anthony Elanga] puts it on a plate for me, so it makes my job easier every time. Then Morgs [Gibbs-White] handed me the penalty for the hat-trick.
"It's fantastic. The boys have done superbly, showing character to come back from last week. That's what we are all about."
On his partnership with Elanga: "We know the relationship that we have. We have that bond and that connection. He does superbly for me and it shows in the statistics.
"A hat-trick of assists never goes unnoticed. The boy is on flames."

Nottingham Forest are only the second side in Premier League history to lose a game by five or more goals (5-0 vs Bournemouth last weekend) and then follow it up by winning their next game in the competition by five or more goals, after Sheffield Wednesday in November 1997 (1-6 vs Manchester United, 5-0 vs Bolton).
The Reds secured their biggest league victory, in any division, since beating Chelsea 7-0 in the top-flight back in April 1991.
Chris Wood became the first Nottingham Forest player to score a top-flight hat-trick at the City Ground since Nigel Clough against QPR in December 1987.
Anthony Elanga became just the second Nottingham Forest player to provide three or more assists in a single Premier League game, after Bryan Roy against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1995.

Sutton's predictions: Nottingham Forest v Brightonpublished at 18:25 31 January
18:25 31 January
I got talking to a Nottingham Forest fan, a lawyer called Mr Gooch, at Birmingham New Street Station on my way back from covering Aston Villa versus Celtic.
He was having a bit of banter with me about how I have suddenly become a Forest fan now they are doing well - so I asked him to give me a prediction for this game.
Mr Gooch has gone for a 2-2 draw, and his reasoning for not backing Forest to win is that Callum Hudson-Odoi is out and he has been a really integral part of their success this season.
To be honest, I am happy to take any help I can here, because Brighton have been so unpredictable this season.
They are a top-half team but their results have been quite up and down, and they have also drawn 10 games, more than any other top-flight side.
Like Mr Gooch, I thought this might end up being another draw. I would have gone for 1-1, but I am going to use his score instead.
He watches Forest every week so he is a proper fan, not someone who has jumped on the bandwagon like myself, so I will listen to him - although I may take legal action if he is wrong.
Earlier, we asked you to name the former Nottingham Forest manager from a series of clues.
The answer was Steve McClaren, who was in charge of Forest in 2011.

Brighton have scored the opening goal in 10 of their 12 Premier League away games this season (including in each of their past five), more than any other side.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have gone 1-0 up in 18 of their 23 league games overall this term, the most in the division.
The average distance of Nottingham Forest's goal-kicks in the Premier League this season has been 43.7 metres, the highest of any side with 121 of those ending in the attacking half, 26 more than any other team.
By contrast, only three sides have taken goal-kicks at a shorter average distance than Brighton this campaign (23.4 metres).
