  1. 'Clement has finally found his best Rangers XI'published at 14:24 9 December 2024

We asked for your thoughts on Rangers' 3-0 win against Ross County.

Here's what some of you said:

Paul: It was a good, solid and comfortable win. We have hit a decent run of form the past two weeks, looking a lot better going forward. We'll see where we are this time next week with really difficult games against Spurs and Celtic.

Stephen: Good performance. Hamza Igamane looked good. A big, big week ahead now.

Allan: The game against Ross County showed we can be competitive even on a poor surface. It was a good team performance and showed once again that when James Tavernier gets involved we gel together in a much compact and precise way. The game against Spurs on Thursday will show whether or not we can maintain our performance.

Frazer: Good away performance. Philippe Clement looks like he's found his starting 11 with Igamane and Danilo playing well. Ianis Hagi has been phenomenal coming back into the squad, can't believe we had him playing in the B team for so long. Looking forward to maybe settling something with Ange Postecoglou.

Elaine: Finally we are coming together as a team. So much better with two up front. Hopefully we keep that system for Thursday and Sunday, which will be bigger tests.

Simon: Great performances are building all round confidence. Suggestion: can we start some crowdfunding to contribute to the buying of Vaclav Cerny?

Murray: I got absolutely slaughtered on Rangers pages after the St Johnstone game for saying we were making progress, but I feel we are making progress and I have more confidence in Rangers going into the two toughest games of the season so far. Hagi has definitely made a difference to our attack, along with Danilo and Igamane.

Jordan: The last 10 days have been the strongest of the season and it gives us at least some belief we might have a chance in the cup final.

  2. Rangers duo feature in TOTWpublished at 13:23 9 December 2024

Jonathan Sutherland's team of the week

James Tavernier: The Rangers captain has looked below par during early parts of this season, certainly in comparison to his heroics in recent years, but suddenly he is looking more like his old self - two goals in two games and his strike against Ross County was superbly taken.

Hamza Igamane: A bit of a throwback in the way he plays the game in an almost off-the-cuff manner. The striker has a real freedom about the way he approaches the game which is great to watch. Showed great confidence and great ability with his superb strike against County.

Thursday's Europa League encounter with Tottenham is a "good time" for Rangers to play Ange Postecoglou's side, says former Australia defender Ryan McGowan.

McGowan, who played under the ex-Celtic boss at international level, feels his old manager is "feeling the heat a tiny bit" after a run of four games without a win.

After dismantling Manchester City in a remarkable 4-0 triumph, Spurs have drawn with Roma and Fulham before suffering a defeat at Bournemouth.

And on Sunday, Postecoglou's men threw away a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 at home to London rivals Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Rangers are benefitting from an upturn in form after winning their past four matches, including a stunning 4-1 victory at Nice last time out in the Europa League.

"Rangers will be looking at Tottenham thinking this is a good opportunity and a good time to play them," McGowan told the BBC's Scottish Football Podcast.

"Spurs have not been getting the results they've wanted and they will not be looking forward to coming to Ibrox with how well Rangers do in Europe.

"That means it could be a cracking game. Rangers are in a good vein of form, they're feeling confident.

"But Spurs know if they play to their capabilities then they should be winning the game, so it sets it up perfectly on Thursday night."

Rangers are unlikely to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka in the January transfer window as the out-of-favour 21-year-old will attract Premier League interest and the huge financial package involved in any move for the midfielder has limited the Glasgow club's chances of a deal. 8. Ross County 0-3 Rangers: Reactionpublished at 14:36 8 December 2024

Rangers manager Philippe Clement: "It's what I wanted to see but of course I'm very pleased because this is a really hard place to show that. To win in that way, it's even better then.

"I'm very pleased about our domination, about how we controlled the game but with the intention to score more goals, how we kept our organisation, concentration also not to become sloppy and to give things away and to keep a clean sheet and three goals at Ross County, it's a really huge performance.

"Our squad is starting to recognise what to do when. It's hard work. It's about getting experience together, getting connections between players together, communication on the pitch, the right timings."

Rangers manager Philippe Clement had said earlier in the season that supporters would see the best of his team come October/November and was criticised when that did not quite come to fruition.

Perhaps the Belgian was a few weeks out with his prediction as, while not the finished article, Rangers are starting to re-discover the form they initially showed under Clement last season.

Vaclav Cerny continues to be a useful outlet, Danilo and Ianis Hagi's influence is growing with fitness, while captain James Tavernier and fellow full-back Jefte impressed going forward.

Hamza Igamane was, though, the top performer, both with his opening goal and link-up play. The Moroccan has netted four goals in his most recent four games - all of which Rangers have won in the build-up to their most challenging week of the season.

Rangers host former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur side in Thursday's Europa League match (20:00) then attempt to defend the League Cup in next Sunday's final against Celtic (15:30), having not beaten their Glasgow rivals since May 2023.

  11. 'Rangers still in pole position for Shankland' - gossippublished at 09:26 8 December 2024

Rangers are still in pole position to sign 29-year-old Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland, who is out of contract with Heart of Midlothian next summer, when the transfer window opens in January. (Football Insider), external

Chelsea have made Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall available for transfer in the January window, but although Rangers had expressed an initial interest, they are unlikely to have the financial muscle to buy the 26-year-old midfielder. (Football Insider), external

Ross County goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw is facing the next two months on the sidelines with a knee injury, meaning new signing Jordan Amissah could make his debut.

Centre-back Kacper Lopata is out with a back problem, while Aidan Denholm and Ricki Lamie are doubtful with the injuries that kept them out last weekend. Will Nightingale (knee) and Max Sheaf (thigh) remain unavailable.

Long-time injured Rangers wingers Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo are in full training again and will be assessed. Tom Lawrence is working his way back to fitness while Neraysho Kasanwirjo (knee) remains sidelined.

  13. Raskin enjoying run in favoured positionpublished at 13:34 7 December 2024

Rangers midfielder Nico RaskinImage source, SNS

Nico Raskin is enjoying getting a run in his favoured position, having started Rangers' past 10 games.

A pre-season injury had curtailed the Belgian midfielder's early season involvement, but he is now firmly part of Philippe Clement's starting XI.

"I think I'm playing where I wanted to play now," Raskin said before Sunday's Scottish Premiership meeting with Ross County in Dingwall.

"Since I came, it's maybe the first time I get a run in the number six position. That's where I enjoy the most playing."

Raskin sought to manage his weight better while he was trying to avoid a repeat of recent injuries - losing up to three stone - and has been aided by the club's chefs in having nutritious meals prepared.

"It's just better for me," he explained.

"I've never really had injuries before and when I came I had four injuries in one and a half years."

After Sunday's game, Rangers host former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side in the Europa League on Thursday then take on Premiership leaders Celtic in the League Cup final the following Sunday.

"It's a big week, a very exciting week," Raskin said. "We need to put on a good performance against Ross County away."

  14. Rangers cannot afford permanent Cerny signing - gossippublished at 08:39 7 December 2024

Philippe Clement admits Rangers currently cannot afford to sign £6.5m-rated on-loan winger Vaclav Cerny from Wolfsburg and the manager fears a similar to scenario to last summer, when forward Abdallah Sima moved permanently from Brighton & Hove Albion to impress with Brest. With Celtic, Rangers and a host of English top-flight clubs scouting Lennon Miller, the Motherwell midfielder's father, Lee, says the 18-year-old's next move will not necessarily be to the biggest club but one with the right manager, ethos, style of play and chance for the Scotland youth international to continue playing first-team football.
