Pedro de la Rosa deputised for McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya at the 2005 race after the Columbian was injured playing tennis. De la Rosa finished fifth and set fasted lap.

The man hours worked during the construction of the track was 8,265,000 (943 years). If one person built it, they would have started in 1061 (five years before the Norman conquest of England).

You would have to lay 287,356 Lewis Hamiltons end to end to reach 500km - the amount of cable used to light the 10th Bahrain GP.

The Bahrain International Circuit was built in just 18 months. The original build time was set at two years but F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone asked for the work to be completed six months earlier. World began in 2002 and was completed in 2004.
