Leclerc quick on softspublished at 16:32 BST 4 July

Charles Leclerc, with dog Leo in tow, jumps above the two Mercedes drivers - and now Oscar Piastri, who goes second - with a time of 1:26.202 on his soft run.
However, the Monegasque is not happy with the car. "Something wrong with the front left," he says, "in general, we need to sort that for tomorrow."
Antonelli beats Russell's timepublished at 16:30 BST 4 July

The rookie mistake from the opening lap in Austria needs to be forgotten for Kimi Antonelli. The Italian teenager came away empty handed last time out and was given a tough lesson in hard racing when you're in the midfield scrum. It's a good first lap on the softs for Antonelli, though, who beats his Mercedes team-mate's time to go quickest with a 1:26.383.
Qualifying simulations are go. Last year's polesitter at Silverstone, George Russell, is the first to cross the line and the Briton goes quickest with a 1:26.523.
Ferrari setting the pacepublished at 16:24 BST 4 July

Carlos Sainz has headed back to the sanctuary of the Williams garage for a debrief following that dicey moment at Luffield. He was so close to taking out Lewis Hamilton as the Ferrari tried to move clear, and was also lucky Nico Hulkenberg was aware of his surroundings.
Hamilton is now leading the pack once again, after a short stint at the top by his team-mate Charles Leclerc. The gap between the two Scuderia drivers is 0.295 seconds, with times set on the medium tyres.
Both Mercedes have just come back to the garage and they're going to work to take the tyres off and having a look at how the cars are handling.
There's been some whispers of [Valtteri] Bottas having a drive at Alpine this year, taking over from Colapinto - whether it happens or not, who knows? Lost of theories going on about Valtteri Bottas.
The front end of Max Verstappen's Red Bull is producing frustration on the team radio from the four-time world champion, who is down in ninth spot.
Carlos Sainz, meanwhile, brings out a brief yellow flag after a spin at Turn Seven. The Spaniard managed to catch himself, with Lewis Hamilton just ahead in the Ferrari, but he did rejoin the track in a slightly dangerous position as Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg was heading his way. Noted by the stewards.
What I will say about this Silverstone circuit is it might be the best racing circuit on the calendar, in terms of the quality of racing that it generates and it's not just because of the layout with the long straights and after the first pit straight, you have Abbey and the corners on to the long Wellington straights. There is an overtaking place there as well as an overtaking place into Stowe, another one into Vale, sometimes even Copse if you're brave, as we have seen with Hamilton and Verstappen infamously in 2021.
Hamilton fastest againpublished at 16:14 BST 4 July

Well, that didn't last long.
Lewis Hamilton attempts another flyer on his medium tyres and can beat Australian Oscar Piastri's time by over two tenths. The McLaren driver is down to fourth now, as George Russell slips into third and the Racing Bulls of Isack Hadjar sits behind his idol Hamilton in P2.
The rookie driver is 0.160 seconds away from the Ferrari man's marker.
One McLaren has completed its first push lap on the mediums and it's Oscar Piastri.
The man who leads the drivers' championship by 15 points goes 0.084 seconds quicker than the Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton to shoot to the top of the timesheets with a 1:27.196.
Hamilton goes quickestpublished at 16:10 BST 4 July
16:10 BST 4 July
Following on from opening practice, Lewis Hamilton is quickest with a 1:27.280 on the medium compound. Max Verstappen, who was having all sorts of issues with grip and balance earlier on, is second behind his old rival, 0.059 seconds off the pace of the Ferrari.
The Haas boys have headed out on the hard compound, the rest of the field are running the mediums early doors. Liam Lawson finds one the American-based team's drivers, Ollie Bearman, blocking his path at Luffield, causing the Racing Bulls man to vent his frustration over the radio. The stewards have clocked the impeding and have noted it.
The tyres for the 2025 British Grand Prix - the C2 hard, C3 medium and C4 soft - are a step softer than last year's compounds, as Pirelli hope this change will open up the strategy options for Sunday's 52-lap grand prix.
Yuki Tsunoda at Red Bull and Nico Hulkenberg over at Sauber are back with us for this next hour, after sitting out of FP1 in order to let the rookies have a go.
Oscar Piastri's engineer is on the radio to tell the Australian the wind is the same as first practice, but still gusty.
Ferrari back up to secondpublished at 16:04 BST 4 July
16:04 BST 4 July
McLaren's one-two in Austria means the constructors' leaders move 207 points clear of now second-placed Ferrari in the championship. Mercedes' disappointing Sunday sees them drop down to third but there is only one point between themselves and the Italian team after 11 rounds.
Liam Lawson's good haul of points has lifted Racing Bulls up into sixth place - seven points ahead of Haas and eight clear of Aston Martin, with Sauber in ninth closing in after a double points weekend at the Red Bull Ring.
Air temperature is 24.5C and the track temperature is 42.2C. The southwesterly wind has gusted to 28mph in the past hour (a brisk wind will be a feature tomorrow, and to some extent likewise on Sunday). FIA risk of rain for FP2 is 0%.

Oscar Piastri's lead at the top of the drivers' championship has been cut to 15 points following team-mate Lando Norris' victory at the Red Bull Ring. Behind the two McLarens, Max Verstappen has lost ground on his rivals as a result of his Austria retirement and now finds himself 61points adrift of Piastri and 46 off Norris.
Nico Hulkenberg picked up two points last time out with his ninth-placed finish so moves up to 10th in the table, one point behind Esteban Ocon in P9.
