McKenna Cup: Antrim and Cavan earn Section C wins

Antrim eased to victory over UUJ in Section C of the McKenna Cup while Cavan defeated Down.

The Saffrons led 0-10 to 1-3 at half-time at Creggan andCJ McGourty netted their goal from a penalty to help secure a 1-17 to 2-08 win.

Antrim substitute Michael Pollock scored five points in the second half.

Cavan were 0-3 to 0-2 ahead at the break against Down in Kingscourt before Kevin Tierney scored the only goal as the hosts won 1-9 to 0-5.

Eugene Keating and David Givney were on target to help Cavan into a narrow half-time advantage.

Tierney got Cavan off to a perfect start in the second half with a goal inside a minute, and the Breffni team never looked back despite the best efforts of the visitors.
