Division Three leaders Roscommon proved too strong for Fermanagh as the Ulster side lost 3-17 to 4-10 in Enniskillen.
Seamus Quigley's goal put the hosts ahead and Conor Daly netted for Roscommon before a Lee Cullen goal gave Fermanagh a 2-6 to 1-7 half-time lead.
Sean Quigley netted for Fermanagh before three-pointers from Cathal Gregg and Enda Smith took Roscommon clear.
Seamus Quigley added a late consolation goal while Roscommon's Niall Carthy was sent-off in the last minute.
It was a rollercoster first half with the Erne men seizing early control only for Roscommon to hit back with 1-5 without reply.
However, Cullen's goal and three straight points ensured the Ulster side went in ahead at the break.
Fermanagh extended their lead with Sean Quigley's goal but Roscommon responded with a dominant second-half display to win by four points.
It leaves Fermanagh with just one win from four games and manager Pete McGrath admitted their promotion hopes were over.
"Promotion is no longer a possibility now - but we have to make sure we win our next three games to stay in the division," he said.
"It was a very good, competitive game and up to the last eight or nine minutes it was in the balance.
"We were found wanting defensively and it's an area we have to work on."
