McKenna Cup: McGrath bullish for Donegal clash

Fermanagh boss Peter McGrath is confident ahead of Wednesday night's final McKenna Cup Section B game against Donegal in Ballybofey.

The Ernemen top the standings with maximum points from two games as they close in on a semi-finals spot.

"It's a formidable challenge and a great barometer for us, to measure ourselves against them, but we will go there with confidence," said McGrath.

"I'm looking forward to the game and so are the players."

Fermanagh clinched a 1-9 to 1-7 victory over Derry at Brewster Park on Sunday, a week after seeing off Queen's in their opener.

Donegal bounced back from a defeat by the Oak Leafers with a comfortable win against Queen's at the weekend.

It leaves Fermanagh, Donegal and Derry in with a chance of progressing to the semi-finals.

"Irrespective of what team they put out, and maybe they are experimenting, Donegal contested the All-Ireland final in 2014," added McGrath.

"We are playing that name, that county. But it's a great opportunity for us to go there and really give it our best."

Holders Tyrone also have four points from two games but their Section C engagement at Healy Park has been postponed because of heavy snow at Healy Park.

It's all to play for in Section A with the four teams locked on two points going into Wednesday's decisive fixtures.

Down host UUJ at Pairc Esler while derby rivals Cavan and Monaghan meet at Breffni Park.
