Sean Quigley inspires Fermanagh to 13-point victory over Antrim

Sean Quigley inspired Fermanagh to a convincing 1-21 to 0-11 win over Antrim in the All-Ireland Football Round 2A qualifier at Brewster Park on Sunday.

The Roslea forward scored 14 points, seven from frees, as his side beat the under-par Saffrons comfortably.

The Ernemen led 0-11 to 0-5 at half-time and extended their lead after the break, Marty O'Brien scoring the goal.

Fermanagh go into Monday's third round qualifier draw, with Longford, Kildare and Roscommon their possible opponents.

Pete McGrath's side had defeated Antrim 1-13 to 0-8 in the quarter-finals of the Ulster Championship on 31 May.

Quigley started off the way he meant to continue by registering the first point of the match but Michael Pollock replied quickly for the visitors.

Tomas Corrigan and Pollock traded points, before Owen Gallagher nudged Frank Fitzsimons's side in front for the first and only time.

Quigley restored parity again, the first of six unanswered points for Fermanagh, as their opponents took several wrong options, despite winning plenty of midfield ball.

The hosts made better use of their possession and further scores from Quigley (5), Barry Mulrone, Paul McCusker and Niall Cassidy helped their team to a six-point advantage by the interval.

Substitute Niall McKeever and Justin Crozier pointed for Antrim, while goalkeeper Chris Kerr made a brilliant save to deny McCusker a goal shortly before the break.

Quigley continued his prolific form, contributing a further seven points, with Daniel Kille, Conall Jones and Sean McManus also getting their names on the scoresheet.

CJ McGourty, who was introduced for the second half, knocked over three points, with Mark Sweeney, Pollock and Kerr scoring Antrim's other second-half points.
