Derry lost to Donegal in the Ulster semi-finals

Derry coasted in to the third round of the All-Ireland qualifiers with an easy 1-16 to 0-10 win over Wexford.

Brian McIver's men overcame some early Wexford resistance to dominate the round 2B encounter and are now two games away from the quarter-finals.

The only goal came towards the end of the first half at Owenbeg.

The ball went in off Wexford defender Brian Malone after Cailean O'Boyle's initial fisted effort had come off the visitors' crossbar.

It put the Oak Leafers into a 1-6 to 0-4 lead, which was extended by two before the half-time whistle sounded.

Eoin Bradley, Enda Lynn and O'Boyle notched early points for Derry whose skipper Mark Lynch then added three frees.

After the goal, a Benny Heron 45 and Danny Heavron's score from play gave the Ulster men a seven-point interval advantage.

Ciaran Lyng (2), Ben Brosnan and Adrian Flynn scored Wexford's first-half points.

Captain Lyng added more scores in the second half, with Ben Brosnan and Eoghan Nolan also adding to the Wexford tally.

But Lynch, Heron, O'Boyle, Liam McGoldrick and Conor McAtamney scores helped Derry increase their lead to nine points.
