Tyrone to face Meath test in All-Ireland qualifiers

Tyrone defeated Meath by two points when the sides met in the All-Ireland qualifiers in 2015

Ulster champions Tyrone have been drawn away against Meath in the opening round of the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers.

Derry will host Kildare, Armagh face a trip to take on Westmeath and Cavan are also on the road against Wicklow.

Antrim are away to Offaly, Cavan visit Wicklow while the other ties on 9 June are London v Louth, Limerick v Mayo and Wexford v Waterford.

All matches will be played to a finish, with the venues/throw-in times being confirmed by the GAA on Tuesday.

Tyrone have been handed a tough encounter as they seek to bounce back from the Ulster SFC defeat by Monaghan.

Meath suffered a shock 0-16 to 0-14 defeat by Longford in the Leinster Championship on Sunday so the Royals will be under big pressure from their own supporters to deliver a performance against the Red Hands

Derry were easily beaten by Donegal on Sunday and they will hope home advantage can give them the edge over the Lilywhites, who were also the victims of a massive shock in Leinster at the weekend as they were beaten 2-14 to 1-10 by Division Four Carlow in Tullamore.

The Oak Leafers will hope that Kildare will still be reeling from that defeat when they meet on the weekend of 9/10 June but the Lilywhites, relegated from Division One in the Spring, are still likely to go into the contest as favourites.

Cavan will face a Wicklow side that finished bottom of Division Four in the Spring and were crushed 4-25 to 1-11 by All-Ireland champions Dublin on Sunday.

The Breffnimen were well beaten by Donegal in the Ulster preliminary round but should be good enough to progress.

Armagh could face a tougher task in their game against Westmeath in Mullingar.

Kieran McGeeney's side did comfortably beat Westmeath 2-17 to 1-11 at Cusack Park in February on the way to secure promotion but Armagh's display against Fermanagh 10 days again was woeful.

Similarly, Antrim will be underdogs in Tullamore despite the recent strife in Offaly football after their underwhelming performance against Down in Newry.

Changes to the qualifiers format this year include a straight draw while the first team drawn has home advantage unless they are a Division One or Two side and are paired with a side from Division Three or Four.

London and Limerick were both drawn away but they will now be home for their round one fixtures.
