Whiteford enjoyed consistent form at the Italian Open

Peter Whiteford's six-under-par final round was not enough to land him the Italian Open title in Turin.

The Kirkcaldy golfer shot a 66 on Sunday to finish the tournament on 19 under, two strokes behind winner Robert Rock of England.

That round was his best of the event, for which he earned 75,000 euros, having previously carded 68, 67 and 68.

Richie Ramsay ended in joint-15th place on 14 under par, while Lloyd Saltman was two strokes further back.

Scott Jamieson and Alastair Forsyth finished eight under and seven under respectively, while David Drysdale and George Murray completed their four rounds at the Royal Park course on five under.

The only other Scot to make the cut, Gary Orr, hit par-72 on Sunday to finish on two under.
