Lee Westwood follows career-best 60 with round of 64

Westwood is still searching his maiden major win despite another stellar season

England's world number three Lee Westwood followed up from Thursday's career-best 60 with a second-round 64 at the Thailand Golf Championship.

Westwood's 124 halfway score tied the lowest 36-hole total on the Asian Tour.

Westwood, 38, carded eight birdies in a bogey-free round to equal the record set by Thailand's Chapchai Nirat at the 2009 Sail Open in India.

Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and Michael Thompson are joint second, 11 shots back on nine under par.

American John Daly, who had been Westwood's nearest challenger at the end of the first day, carded a one-over 73, while England's Simon Dyson moved to five under, a shot behind Daly, with a 70.

"Arguably a better round this morning than yesterday in windy conditions! 64 to add to yesterday's 60. For sure the best I've ever played. -20," Westwood wrote on Twitter.

Ernie Els' 13-shot victory at the 2005 Asian Open is currently the record winning margin in the Asian Tour.
