Georgia Hall: Bournemouth golfer set for first major

Bournemouth's Georgia Hall has been invited to compete in her first major - the Kraft Nabisco Championship at Mission Hills Golf Club from 1-7 April.

Hall, 16, is the European women's number one amateur and is ranked fourth in the world. She is one of nine amateurs to receive an invitation.

This will be her first professional tournament and the first time she would have played in the USA.

"It's the biggest major in the world - what a way to start," said Hall.

Hall, who is attached to the Remedy Oak golf club in Dorset, added: "My first aim is to make the cut and also to see how other people play and what I can learn from them. I want to see if I'm doing anything wrong, or right.

"I didn't expect the invitation and it's just amazing. I've always wanted to go to America to play."

Hall is the British girls' champion and has just started her 2013 campaign by winning two gold medals at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

Among the other amateurs who have received invitations are world number one Lydia Ko of New Zealand, who has just won her third professional title, and British champion and Curtis Cup player Stephanie Meadow of Ireland.

Hall added: "It's a great honour and I can't wait - I'm over the moon."
