US Open: Chris Doak and Stephen Gallacher miss cut at Pinehurst

Doak finished day two seven over along with countryman Gallacher

Scottish golfers Chris Doak and Stephen Gallacher missed the cut at the US Open at Pinehurst after both finished day two on seven over.

Gallacher followed his opening-day 73 with a second-round 74 and, with Doak's scores the other way round, the pair missed the cut by two shots.

German Martin Kaymer (10 under) takes a six-shot lead into the weekend, having hit 65 in rounds one and two.

"It was very frustrating, it was playing tough," said Gallacher

"I thought I played better today than I did yesterday, it's just one of those courses.

"The wind was just swirling, it was tough to get it pin high. You're talking fine margins on a course like this and I just didn't gauge it right."

And, on Kaymer, Gallacher said: "He's a class player on his day.

"Anybody on their day for a couple of rounds can do it anywhere."

Gallacher insists he will not do anything "rash" in terms of changing his game ahead of the Irish and Scottish Opens with the Open Championship and the Ryder Cup also on the horizon.

"It's only one tournament," he explained.

"It's a massive week next week [at the Irish Open]."
