Stephanie Meadow has finished third in her first two professional tournaments

Northern Ireland's Stephanie Meadow has secured her place at this week's Women's British Open at Royal Birkdale.

A day after a superb 63 saw her finish joint-third at the European Masters, the County Antrim woman finished joint second in Monday's qualifying event.

Meadow, a member at Royal Portrush, birdied five of the first seven holes at Southport and Ainsdale on her way to a five-under-par 69.

It left her one shot behind top qualifier Becky Brewerton of Wales.

The Women's British Open begins on Thursday and 22-year-old Meadow from Jordanstown will be aiming to continue her fantastic start as a professional.

Just a few weeks ago, in her first event since quitting the amateur ranks, Meadow finished third in the US Women's Open at Pinehurst.

That was followed by her joint-third finish at the European Masters, thanks to a course record-equalling 63 at Buckinghamshire.
