Jimmy Walker won his home event as he eased to victory in the Texas Open with a final round of 70 giving him his fifth career title on the PGA tour.

Walker, 36, who lives 30 minutes from the course in San Antonio, finished at 11-under par to beat fellow American Jordan Spieth by four shots.

His four-shot overnight lead was never threatened despite a late flurry of four birdies in five holes from Spieth.

In-form Walker successfully defended his Hawaii Open title in January.

He previously played in 187 PGA Tour events without a win before capturing three titles last year and has now moved into the world's top 10.

Spieth, 21, has moved up to fourth in the world rankings with just one more tour event to go before the US Masters starts on 9 April.
