American Ryder Cup player Brandt Snedeker claimed his first European Tour title with an emphatic nine-shot victory at the Fiji International.

The 35-year-old world number 23 began the final day at Natadola Bay Golf Club with a three-shot advantage and carded a round of 68 to finish 16 under.

It eclipsed Charl Schwartzel's eight-shot Tshwane Open win as the biggest victory margin of the European season.

World number 179 Michael Hendry of New Zealand was a distant second.

Snedeker, who won three points out of three as the USA regained the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine last week, had missed the cut in all three of his previous regular European Tour strokeplay events but dropped only three shots over four rounds in the South Pacific.
