England bounced back from a heavy opening defeat to tie their two-match series against Olympic champions Germany.

A late goal from Loughborough's Henry Weir helped the visitors record a 3-2 victory on Sunday in Manheim - a fine response to Saturday's 5-2 loss there.

"Although I felt we played better yesterday we stuck to the task well today," said coach Bobby Crutchley.

"The win here is just reward for a good squad effort."

Reading forward Tom Carson, who scored both of England's goals on Saturday, added: "We regrouped last night and we knew exactly what we needed to change today.

"I was really pleased to register my first couple of goals and it's always extra special to get one from a drag [flick]."
