Wales' women claimed their first victory at the inaugural FIH Women's Nations Cup 2 in Poland with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Czech Republic.

In head coach Kevin Johnson's 100th game in charge, the first period finished goalless before captain Beth Bingham put Wales ahead from a penalty corner midway through the second quarter.

Substitute Beth Peers, winning only her second cap, then added to the goal she scored in the opening 3-3 draw against Italy, doubling Wales' lead with six minutes remaining.

The victory puts Johnson's side second in Pool B on four points.

France, who are yet to concede a goal and top the group with six points after beating Italy 4-0 on Tuesday, are Wales' final opponents in the pool stage on Thursday.
