Toronado wins the Craven Stakes

Veteran trainer Richard Hannon says Newmarket Craven Stakes winner Toronado could be a Derby contender after next month's 2000 Guineas.

The Champagne Stakes victor franked the form of that Doncaster win by beating Dundonell by more than four lengths.

Asked if he was his best chance of winning the Derby, Hannon replied: "Yes and if I did that I might retire."

Jockey Richard Hughes sent odds-on favourite Toronado into a decisive lead and he was going away at the end.

"He'll come back for the Guineas and what beats him will win," said Hannon.
