Jeff Mason will miss Belfast Giants' next two games after being found guilty of foul play in Friday's win over Cardiff Devils.

Mason was handed a three-match ban for a "checking-to-the-head" offence and sat out Sunday's 6-1 hammering by Nottingham Panthers.

The incident occurred in the second period of Friday's 4-1 win.

Mason will Monday's Challenge Cup encounter at Hull Stingrays and the home game against Coventry on Friday.

The Elite League's head of discipline Simon Kirkham said:""The tariff for a check to the head is a three-match ban.

"We have reviewed the match DVD and taken reports from the officials and have decided that it is a check to the head and the penalty will stand."
