Adam Keefe of the Belfast Giants
Belfast Giants player Adam Keefe has been handed a four-match ban for charging during Thursday night's Elite League win over the Cardiff Devils.
The league reviewed a hit by Keefe, for which he had initially received a match penalty for a hit to the head.
That offence carries a mandatory three-match suspension and would have been his second such suspension this season.
If he had been found guilty of a hit to the head, Keefe would have faced a probable six-match suspension.
Keefe will miss the game with the Sheffield Steelers, plus the visit of Nottingham Panthers to Belfast on 25 October, the match away to Braehead Clan on 26 October and the fixture with Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey Arena on 2 November.
