The Belfast Giants maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Elite League by beating Edinburgh Capitals 6-3 at the Odyssey Arena on Saturday.

Adam Keefe scored the opener, but Jan Safar levelled before the end of the first period.

Goals from Kevin Saurette on the powerplay, Dustin Whitecotton and Kevin Phillips put the Giants 4-1 ahead.

Man-of-the-match Saurette and Chris Higgins scored in the third period, but Edinburgh pulled two back late on.

Richard Hartmann on the powerplay and Michal Benadik were on target to give the final scoreline a more flattering look for the visitors.

A professional performance then from the Giants, who play two home games next weekend, against Fife Flyers on Friday night and Sheffield Steelers on Saturday evening.
