Elite League champions the Belfast Giants clinched their 15th straight win by beating Coventry Blaze at the SkyDome Arena on Sunday evening.

Evan Cheverie, Adam Keefe and Kevin Saurette on the powerplay scored for Belfast in the first period, with Mike Egener replying for the hosts.

Dustin Whitecotton extended the Giants' advantage in the third period.

The victory completed a weekend double for Paul Adey's side, who beat Fife Flyers 5-4 after over-time on Saturday.

Goals from Ned Lukacevic and Bobby Chaumont put Fife 2-0 ahead but Keefe and Saurette replied for the visitors before the end of the first period.

Saurette then edged Belfast ahead only for Jordan Fulton and Derek Roehl efforts to restore Fife's lead.

But Jeff Mason's goal ensured over-time before Jeffrey Szwez's winner.

That victory established a Giants club record as it was their 26th straight match without a regulation-time defeat, a benchmark they extended with their success over Coventry.

The Giants will entertain Cardiff at the Odyssey Arena on Friday night in their next league game.
