Great Britain's men beat Poland 5-4 in Coventry to share their two-game series as they prepare for the World Championship qualifier in Belfast.

Following Friday's 4-1 defeat in Nottingham, the hosts responded with a thrilling victory sealed by a Jack Prince sudden-death penalty.

"Our performance was excellent," said assistant coach Tom Watkins.

"The result is great but as part of our World Championship preparations this is a huge step forward."

Britain's first game at the World Championship in Belfast is against Croatia on 23 April, and head coach Pete Russell has named his 23-man squad.

"We know that the aim is the gold medal and there will be pressure on us to perform, but I believe we have the right group of players," said Russell.

"The players will experience something a generation of players haven't been able to do by playing a tournament on home ice.

"Everyone is so focused and excited about the challenges ahead."
