Cardiff Devils overcame a four-goal deficit to earn a dramatic 6-4 win over Nottingham Panthers and book their place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals.

Oliver Betteridge, Tim Doherty and Sam Herr all netted in the opening period to put the visitors in control at the Vindico Arena.

Mitchell Fossier extended Nottingham's lead, but Tyler Busch and Cole Sanford struck in quick succession to give Cardiff hope in the second period.

Kohen Olischefski bagged Cardiff's third before Cole Sanford levelled proceedings.

Olischefski then notched his second to put the home side 5-4 up in the final stages, with Busch scoring his second and Cardiff's sixth.

The regulation win sealed Devils place in the semi-finals of the competition, while Panthers will now face Glasgow Clan in a one-off elimination game to determine who joins Cardiff, Belfast and Sheffield in the next round.

Cardiff return to action against Coventry Blaze in the Elite League on 26 December (18:00 GMT).
