Matthew Myers has returned to Cardiff Devils to take up the role of assistant coach with the Welsh side.
The Great Britain and Devils icon won 17 major titles during a glittering 18-year career as a player before retiring from international ice hockey in March.
But he will now operate behind the bench as an assistant coach for the Elite League team.
Devils head coach Pete Russell said: "I know what specific skills he can help our team with - faceoffs, net front battles, defensive zone, tipping pucks - but I also know how eager he is to progress as a coach.
"I know he will challenge me at times, which is always a good thing to have in a coaching staff and he will have the respect of the players, some of who he played alongside and won titles with.
"I am looking forward to working together this season and having another winner in our locker room.”
Myers, who also had spells with Nottingham Panthers and French team Morzine, played more than 1,100 Elite League games in all competitions.
The forward made his full GB debut at the 2004 World Championship Division I Group A in Norway, featuring in each subsequent edition of the event until retiring.
The Cardiff-born forward was part of GB’s gold medal-winning campaigns in Belfast (2017), Hungary (2018) and Nottingham (2023).
