What drama - if that was the finish to the Premier League we would be raving about it for weeks.

But ice hockey fans across the UK should revel in what was a dramatic season from start to finish.

Cardiff started fast and were eventually reeled in by Sheffield and Belfast.

The Grand Slam winners from last season suffered a loss in form in November, just as the Giants were getting hot over Christmas.

Then came the late charge from the Nottingham Panthers as the Giants stumbled and the Steelers couldn’t quite take advantage.

Over 54 games the Giants held on to win in the final few minutes of a tension fuelled dramatic last game.

Going into the final weekend they needed two wins to clinch the title and they did it with two overtime victories.

It doesn’t get anymore exciting than that

He scored the OT game winner on Saturday night and he repeated the trick.

The trophy is in the building and will be presented shortly
